“I can tell you all about our youngest!

F and I found him as just an egg! We brought it home to study it, thinking it was a fossil. You can imagine our surprise when it hatched, and out came something we’ve never seen before! Emma couldn’t classify him after studying his DNA, so he truly is a mystery to us!

After some time of studying him, Emma pointed out that he behaved very similar to an infant. Having both Tate and Arthur previously, it was very easy to catch the similarities. We asked the Corduroys if they’d be willing to bring over Boyish Dan’s youngest brother, who at the time was about five months old. They agreed, and Boyish Dan brought over little David!

From there it was easy to tell that Oliver was much more than we thought. He wasn’t just any strange critter, he was sentient, intelligent!

We had the Corduroys build a brand new room for him, and he’s been with us ever since! Oliver is still wonderfully intelligent, and he excels at the school here. Tate and Arthur are wonderful brothers, and didn’t think twice about calling him their baby brother.

He fit right in our little family.”

Idk if this has been mentioned before but did the kids inherit any of his adorable skills? (Im just begging to see adorable babies at this point you don’t have to answer this lol)

“Arthur? Oh yeah. Puppy eyes and all. Tatertot doesn’t have any wolf in him, but he does have his mother’s pouty lip… I’m embarrassed to admit it works on me every time… Oliver can’t quite get ahold of it, but Arthur is helping teach him as much as possible.”

Absolutely! Here’s Fidds and Tate nappin opossum style, Oliver copying Ford’s polydactyl hands (Ford really wishes he wouldn’t, but doesnt have the heart to tell him no), and Emma drawing pictures with Arthur! (He’s standing on a stool, he is not that tall- not yet at least!)

Oliver, can you do other shapes besides your own? Would you ever pretend to be your siblings for sibling shenanigans?

“YEAAAA I CAN!!! I mostly like to copy things dad shows me in picture books! I can shape into objects too, but they aren’t as fun… I like changing shape in front of dad because he always says he’s proud of me!”

“And yeah! I shape into Arthy and Tatey all the time! If we’re really good, some days, we get sweet treats after dinner! I usually copy my brothers for an extra sweet treat hehehe! Mama always knows though… it’s like she’s magic!”

♦ - quirks/hobbies headcanon for Emily and Oliver?

Emily is very frugal. She knows all about the starving artist archetype and never believed in suffering for her art, in that particular way. She aggressively chases all sales and discounts.

For hobbies, she enjoys fashion, particularly avant garde or unusual fashions, even if she herself is still a little shy to wear anything all that interesting. It's more about the aesthetics and the textile crafting for her. This will eventually become a major focus of her work, if she ever escapes the vampires.

Oliver doesn't have a huge amount of hobbies outside of his books, but he does dabble in drawing occasionally. When he does draw, he mostly does landscapes or sketches people he sees in the city. Cheap, trashy pulp novels are a bit of a guilty pleasure for him, because they're not the more respectable books he usually trades in. He likes looking at travel magazines and imagining the places he could go someday, but he never actually gets around to making the plans.

"I'm ashamed I didn't fight for it more in the first place. There's so many places where I could have probably done things better. I hesitated heeding Alexander's warning. I didn't escape the vampire who came to kidnap me. I couldn't find a way out of the car. And now I'm here. In all honesty, I've never been much of a fighter.

"I like to say that there's nothing I wouldn't do to go back to my old life, and have my freedom and my mind, but I fear I'd be too much of a coward to do so."

"I know... I know that I'm supposed to want to be a vampire's thrall, and that obedience will be good for me, and that I'm well suited for it...

"But I do miss my bookshop.

"I'm not trying to resist or be disobedient, I swear. I just think I'm going to miss my bookshop very much. I think, if I had to choose... I would choose my bookshop.

"I'm not going to be given that choice anyway, though, so it's a bit of a moot point."

"I'm not sure I want to enjoy being a pet... but I suppose since that's what's happening, it might be easier for me to enjoy it, right? That feels a bit too much like giving up...

"I'm not sure if any options here are good ones, but it seems like some vampires might treat me better than others. If I'm at least treated kindly, fed well, and allowed books... well, that'd be better than not. It might not be the worst life.

"I can't believe that my life has come to this end, trying to accept my fate as a vampire's meal."
