I'm not sure how to best summarize their relationship but they are very much "opposites attract" and very in love with each other/super sweet and healing with each other. Peacock and Peahen energy I suppose. I love getting asks about them but only if people want to.
As of Season 4, they are both 32 years old but have been with each other since Season 1 (about 10 years) in terms of canon/original universe.
I've been self inserting Emma with Kara for about 6 or 7 years now and I tried to include as much of the most updated refs as I could (there is a lot of older content of her with my old name that I'm trying to edit to be up to date still).
Emma is shipped with Karamatsu only, no other characters or ocs or anything and she is monogamous. She is platonically closest with Osomatsu and Ichimatsu but is also friends with Totoko.
She doesn't have many friends outside of the Matsuno brothers and Totoko right now but I hope to change that by having her interact with other yumes!

Emma is a sweetheart. She believes in the best of people, even if they hurt her over and over, she’ll just excuse them and say it was just a bad day. That it was just misunderstandings. The exception is if they fuck with her friends. That’s when the tiny blonde becomes furious.
She is an animal lover, and her heart bleeds for animals easily. Which is why she’s vegetarian.
She does have a pink wig too which is why she sometimes might be having pink hair.
Her whole father situation is a bit... Well, the man she thought was her father, isn’t her biological father, but it’s who she calls dad. Her biological father was the boss of her grandfather, and had a one night stand with her mother, and due to the power situation, her mother never told him she was pregnant. Especially not as she was already engaged to marry a man in the navy.
Her mother remained in Stonehill while her dad went to work and provide for them, being gone for months at a time. He always knew that Emma wasn’t biologically his, but he never showed it to the little girl, and whenever he was in Stonehill, he would shower her in love and affection, and he was her big hero.
Her mother though... More the reason of why she still can’t see why anyone would love her.
Her mother died when Emma was just 15, and that was when she also found out about her biological father, in a letter from her mother. Her dad and her bio father had already talked, and it was agreed upon that she would get to stay with her bio father until her dad could retire from being sent out, and instead could remain in Stonehill and be there for her.
She now has a good relationship to both of her fathers, though as she just calls them dad and father, one could almost think she was the daughter of two gay dads if one doesn’t know the whole situation.
She’s a bit of a hopeless romantic, and can’t wait for the day where she’ll meet her soulmate, hoping every fling that happens will be her soulmate, but so far no luck.

Emma never knew her father and her mother’s family is all she’s ever known. Emma’s mother was a teenage mother and they’ve always had a close relationship. She grew up living with her grandparents in Rural Bradford Springs and rarely wanted anything. When Emma was six, her mother married and had her little sister, Elise Emma knows no other family and considers her stepfather to be her father.
Emma is fun-loving, witty and goofy. She enjoys the outdoors and loves camping, fishing, and anything she can do to be outside. However, Emma does tend to overthink things. She looks back and reflects on the past and can’t help but wish she could change things. As a child, Emma was loud and would always be out playing in the street. She loved being outdoors. She loved fishing, hiking, anything that meant she could be outside and not in her old dusty house.
Straight after college, Emma travelled, hoping to learn more about herself and the world. Emma was a sociable young woman and her very active social media is just proof of that. However, when she returned home it became obvious to her that all her friends had moved on with their lives and Emma had no career plans. Emma studies English literature and thinks a lot about writing a novel… the only problem being she is heavily inspired by her own life and the lives of people around her. Of course, writing novels that never get published doesn’t pay the bills and Emma has been working in The Last Chapter for the last five years. She got the job as a favour that was owed to her father. Emma has been living at home for five years and most of her old friends are still in town.
