Letter #5 Em

Dear Emma,

I am gonna try to write this letter to you not as someone who used to love you, but as a friend. First and for most, I hope all is well with you. I am so glad you got out of this city. I know how much you wanted to get out, and I am just glad you are happier in New York. I want to thank you for coming into my life and sharing your countless How I Met Your Mother references with me. To this day, I can not let a “general” go un-saluted. I think to this day, that show is the only consistent show that I will reference; that show saved my life, and so did you. One of my favorite memories with you is when we burned everything in my memory box and decided to start new memories. Who can forget our daily videos we would send each other just to basically summarize our day or send each other videos of lip syncing one direction (no i think that was just you) lol.

I knew that your letter would be the longest because I could write another book just about you, but I do want to keep this short. Thank you for being the person I wanted to talk to at the end of my day, thank you for supporting my music career. You have no idea how much your words meant to me and my music. I am so proud of you making it through life, and that you are bringing awareness to so many different causes. There are a lot of people who are proud of you for standing up for what you believe in. I know things went down between you and Abby and I really do wish I could take all that pain you feel. I hope one day you guys work it out but regardless of what the outcome is between you two, I do know that you will live a long happy life. Out of all the people in this world, you deserve it the most, and I truly believe that. I never took your name off of my beneficiary information, The Emma guitar just wouldn’t be right if it was with anyone else. I hope one day you make room for that guitar in one of your houses. I am finally able to write about you without any anger or sadness, it took me a long time, but I am finally accepting that not everyone is supposed to be in my life forever, no matter how much I wanted them to be. Lastly, Em, Keep Smiling.
