Emma Lou
BEHOLD
Her
This past Sunday we had to say goodbye to a major piece of the Clinic. Our old Granny Emma Lou. She survived 16 long years, 9 of them as a permanent clinic resident and she saved many lives by being a blood donor. I remember spending many rainy days sitting up in the front office with her... Many sunny days out in the big field rooting her on as she dug for gophers... Bringing her hero cheeseburgers after each blood donation... Hearing a scary noisr & letting her out of her kennel so she could patrol the clinic and warn me of any danger... I remember holding her on my lap after she struggled to recover from a surgical procedure. I told her then if she felt it was time, it was ok to go. I would be there with her all night... She survived 2 more years and gradually I saw less and less of the playful old girl she used to be... I was glad I was there with her... I was the one who heard her and saw her face and knew there was something very wrong... I was the one who assisted in her final surgery... I was the one who told the Dr that she had suffered enough... I was the one who stayed with her body long after everyone else went home... I was the one to carry her back and give her one last kiss goodbye... She was with me from when I first worked there and she brought everyone so much happiness... I'll miss you very much Lou Pie...
