𝗠𝗬 𝗥𝗘𝗩𝗜𝗘𝗪 This is book two in the Adam and Eve Mystery series, and while it functioned perfectly well as a standalone book, I had a reoccurring feeling that I was missing something. I think I would have benefited from reading book one Death By Candlelight, if only for some backstory and better context. I love these characters! Caterer Francesca Eve and video designer/friend/assistant Adam Smith compliment each other “like peas and carrots”, as Forrest Gump would say. Together they make a fantastic team, and really dominated the pages as soon as the body of Keith Chapman is found. The setting of Claremont House, home of the Chapmans, is beautifully described which made visualising each scene so easy (one of my favourite things). The cast of supporting characters are demanding, difficult, and thoroughly unlikeable. And they’re all suspects. BRILLIANT! I'm not so convinced by Adam's technological equipment, and doubt it would be anywhere near admissible in court, but that did not take a thing away from this entertaining story. Overall, this was a fun read and my first foray into cozy murder mysteries. I will definitely be reading book one, and look forward to book three Death On The Menu before its release on 22 September 2022. I am most happy to recommend this book to all mystery readers, but with the caveat that you should read the series in order. I gave Death At The Dinner Party, by Emma Davies, four knives.
