Hello! I'm working on updating/fixing up my Yang cosplay and I was just wondering if you had any advice on the white underskirt thing. I can't quite decide how I want to go about it, so much so that when I made it for NYCC I decided to leave it off altogether :/

It’s a good thing you asked while I’m home so I can share up close pictures! I actually didn’t really remember how I did this until I took another look but it looks like I did a really half-assed job...

First of all i used a white cotton gauze material since that’s what it looks like to me in the animation, though I’ve seen others use more sheer fabric and it also looks great. I only hemmed the sides of it and not the bottom but I don’t know if I did that cause I was lazy or if I thought it added “roughness” to the costume. An Important part is that I added some pleats where I actually attached the fabric to the skirt/belt because my large butt would have made it appear smaller and tighter in comparison to the skirt panels and I wanted it to hang more loosely. It also looks like I hand-sewed on the underskirt but I don’t know why i did that and you probably won’t have to do that. Lastly this is pretty obvious but it’s asymmetrical where the underskirt mostly hangs below the skirt but falls lower on the right side.

Also if you ever get stuck on a costume piece like this again my best advice is to just try throwing yourself at it! I know for me if I have no idea what to do I just start doing something, and eventually I’ll realize if what I’m doing is actually getting me to my end goal or not. That sounded a lot more motivational in my head. Basically just go for it, whether you know what you’re doing or not :)

if you're in the US I'd recommend registering as a dem rather than an independent so that you can vote in the primaries, which are just as important (if not more) than the general elections

yeah i didn’t know what the uip actually did so i just put in democrat which i did know so thanks!
