“Under The L” The photo on the left was shot by my photographer, Andreas Feininger. The photo on the right was a photo I had taken to recreate a similar image to the one Feininger had taken. I achieved a similar look by going to Chicago to take a photo under the train tracks on the busy streets of the city. Obviously, there were very different cars compared to the ones in modern day today. I was still able to achieve the lighting and color of his photo by editing my photo to add a blue tone of the photo I had taken. In the end, my recreation was a success. Even though the cars were different and I wasn’t able to take this photo in New York City were it was originally taken by Feininger, the recreation was very similar.

“Over The Bridge” The photograph taken on the left was by Andreas Feininger. The photograph on the right was a recreation photo that I had taken. I was able to achieve a similar look to the photo that Feininger had taken by going to Chicago to take a photo of a bridge that was built over the Chicago River. I was able to achieve a similar look by adding filters and editing it to making it look similar. The only part that made this photo unsuccessful was that Feininger took this photo in New York of the Brooklyn Bridge at night. While I was unable to take a photo at night and only being able to travel as far as Chicago.

Question: Define Complexity

This piece was inspired by “The Meaning of Simplicity” by Yannis Kitsos. I’ll post the source poem later.  

I reveal myself in my complexities,

so you can see me;

know my laugh

the bubbling of noise before the joyous exclamation

and you will see my light.  

know my whispering of sadness,

the whimpering of a tired mind before the rain

and you will wear my shadow. 

see all of me, our souls will be braided together

twin plaits, opalescent in the shimmering moon

The spring sun, gently warms

the cast iron pavement (it is that way

     because of our gentle whispers)

it shimmers on the horizon

     warming the silence--

but the silence is not always warm

Every silence is a bridge across a river,

one often flooded.

That’s when the tears are true;

when the river is a trickle to the sea.

this is the first photoshop project i ever did. i have not named it yet. the school assigned project was emmulation so that's what i call it. idk what it is but i wanted to bring some fantasy to the beauty i see around me all the time. what better than to tie the 2 together in a beautiful harmony? hope you enjoy
