< Part 1 - Part 3 >
“Jongdae!”
“Why can’t I use my magic? Why can’t we?”
“They have an army for the sake of this stupid witch hunt. Jongdae… we cannot compete…”
“What does this make us?”
“Tonight. Just tonight, and then we will escape. I promise you.”
Jongdae held his breath when he heard the door of the chambers creak open. His eyes locked with yours in panic.
“I love you Kim Jongdae... my love, my man, my everything... We are alone... We are enjoying this beautiful room, just you and I, to seal a pact of love. Forever and for an eternity. Will you take me forever Kim Jongdae?” You whispered lifting his hand to your cheek.
“I do. Forever and for an eternity ___. My love... my woman... Forgive me for being impotent. Love me after this. Like before...” He whispered back.
“What are you two whispering? I warn you, any kind of magic and you both will be burned slow. It will take you at least three days and three nights to finally die after a long agony.”
The Bishop removed the sheet off of both of you leisurely, revealing your nakedness. When the cold air hit your bodies, goosebumps ran up and down your skin but nothing mattered except for Jongdae’s sadness. He was taking little breaths while trying to suppress his sobs.
“I have to admit that you are quite an unusual looking man.” Commented Bishop Fernando. “Your hair... so straight...” he ran his fingers over Jongdae’s locks, “and those eyes...” he caressed his cheek “look at me,” he ordered “it’s beauty, and your skin is so smooth...”
Jongdae’s tears spilled wetting the bishop’s hand. You watched the scene before your eyes without being able to do anything but squeeze his fingers.
“Why crying? Isn’t she the woman you love? I could still bring a pair of guards to do the deed and I’d have double entertainment. You should be thankful that you were the chosen ones and that my boundless generosity allowed you to be together.”
“We are eternally thankful Bishop Fernando.” You spoke making the man dart his eyes to you.
“She knows how to speak, and she knows how to please.” He walked until he was behind you. “Stand.” He ordered.
Jongdae’s cry was no longer deniable as he was unable to suppress the noises that came out of his mouth. Tears created lines down his handsome face while watching you slowly stand in bed revealing all your body to the bishop. You were hugging yourself in a shy manner.
Jongdae looked from your eyes to your inner thighs, noticing how his seed ran down your leg. The one he had asked you to keep until instructed. A view that should have been amusing was ruined with the presence of that indecent man.
Jongdae couldn’t contain himself. He rose just enough to wrap his arms around you, covering your womanhood with his head and your bottom with his hands.
“Way ahead of you, strange man. Have I asked you to move?”
“Please excuse him, Bishop Fernando. He is just not from here, like I explained earlier, and he doesn't understand.”
“Remove yourself right this instant!”
“Jongdae… move Jongdae.” You urged him. “Now!” You whisper-shouted.
“I can’t do this! Please let us go!” Jongdae cried in desperation.
“Put some sense into this insolent man, ___, or my guards will gladly do the job.”
“That won’t be necessary Bishop Fernando. Would you like to get started? Please advise of what you wish to see and feel. Or will we just fornicate?” You casually aired.
“I want something new,” he sat in the chair next to the bed “last few times have been boring,” he explained “man and woman, two men, two women, two women and a man, two men and one woman, it’s not funny anymore... So here I am, back to the regular stuff, perhaps this strange man has something new to show me.”
“Of course he has, he’s the best at this.” You assured the bishop.
“Really?” The Bishop rose himself interested.
“Yes he is, but he’s only good with me. It’s a cultural thing they feel when they find that one person that makes them complete, and that’s me. So anything you shall see here, it will only happen with me. Don’t try to make him do it with other people, because it will be a disappointment.”
“You sure know how to sell him and secure him with you. I won’t do you dirty, but you better live up to the expectations you have set.”
“What are you doing ___?” Whispered Jongdae confused.
“You are going to be an obedient boy for me. Trust me Jongdae.” You replied also in a whisper. “Just imagine he is not here. I’m begging you.”
He nodded his head following your orders. You pushed him flat on the mattress sitting on his face lowering yourself to his very not excited member. You started massaging his balls pumping him to try and get him a bit excited and started.
“Moan Jongdae,” you swatted him, “and start doing what you need to do.”
You let your hair over your face watching the Bishop palm himself. He was indulging in the 69 position view you were offering him. You needed him to look at you to cast your signature sleeping spell on the Bishop while he watched. All you needed was a full minute of the Bishop’s eyes not blinking.
You counted, but he blinked.
You counted again, and again, and again but, he would always blink when you were almost there.
You rose yourself, holding on to the bed frame. “Bishop Fernando?” You moaned loudly.
Jongdae’s legs stiffened. His toes curling when he heard you talking like that. His vague tongue stopped and his body was fully alert.
“Yes ___? Please, continue.”
“Can you come closer? Would you like me to explain what I’m feeling?” You moaned exaggeratedly.
The bishop stood in his toes, not suspecting a thing, and walked towards you while still palming himself.
“What you are feeling? Oh... you’re going to narrate what this man is doing?”
You nodded, rocking yourself over Jongdae’s face.
“This might actually be something new. I’m all ears.”
“I- ah~” You closed your eyes pretending to feel something with Jongdae’s non existent action. “I need you to come closer Bishop Fernando. Look at me and give me all your attention. If you don’t blink, I’ll make you feel better than I’m feeling right now.”
Just then, it hit Jongdae. Not blinking. He understood then that you were going to cast your spell on that nasty man of God, so he started to move his lips thoroughly sucking on your sensitive nub.
“Ah~! You pulled at your hair, “closer, Bishop Fernando.”
“Tell me.” He held the bed frame and lowered his head to your eye level.
“Jongdae’s tongue is inside me. It feels gentle. It’s smaller than a penis, however, wetter. I feel like a vibration…”
The bishop widened his eyes giving you full attention.
“Do you want to hear it? Come closer. Sit on the bed and listen to how wet it sounds.”
Jongdae started to frantically lick and suck while you rocked yourself over his face. Your moans filling the room.
The bishop sat down next to Jongdae. He was about to close his eyes and ruin everything you had been working on.
“Don’t close your eyes… listen with them,” and so the Bishop did.
He kept rubbing over his clothed crotch while watching you pinch your nipples and, just before he reached his own high, his eyes closed slowly, falling into a deep sleep. Sixty seconds were enough to have him snoring, his back leant on the bed frame.
“Jongdae! Come on!” You exclaimed removing yourself.
“He’s asleep? How much time do we have?”
“Ten minutes. Not enough to escape so we’ll have to hide and steal someone’s clothing to escape in disguise.” You explained while gathering your garments and sprinting out the room to go down the spiral of stairs.
You found the door where Carmela came from and opened it to get inside. Jongdae was following you. It was a storage room with nothing other than food supplies, sacks of rice and wheat. It was a good place to hide until a maid made an appearance to steal her attire.
You stayed there, in silence, until you heard the alarm given. The bishop had woken up and your heads were wanted.
That was the worst experience you had ever lived but, at least, you were with Jongdae. Your head rested on his chest so you could hear his heartbeat and his arm wrapped around you while you were in the floor, crouched together.
“I am sorry m’lady... I couldn’t protect you, I didn’t listen to you.”
“I love you, Jongdae Kim.”
“I love it when you call me Jongdae Kim, m’lady, and I love you too. You wanna know something?”
“Tell me, Jongdae.”
“You were right. I will never ever be able to do that with any other woman. Forgive me that I couldn’t protect you from the Bishop’s eyes.”
“He wasn’t there, Jongdae. Only our love was present.”
“If I die-”
“Shhh.” You straightened yourself to face him, covering his mouth with your hand. “Don’t you dare say something like that.”
“I’m just saying... if”
“No ifs. Because if you die, we die together. We will never part ways. Ever. We live and die together, Kim Jongdae.”
“Kim Jongdae? Not Jongdae Kim?”
“I’m the woman of a Joseon man, so it’s Kim Jongdae. Do I have to teach you everything, young warlock?” You caressed his face.
Jongdae finally smiled, making your anxiousness vanish momentarily. It was magical without magic. His embrace, as he kissed the crown of your head, made you forget all the awfulness of the world.
“If, for any reason, things don’t go as planned,” you detached yourself to look at his eyes, “always seek refugee in the forest. Wolves are not enemies. Any living creature is, and will always be, better than humankind.”
“How do you mean?”
“Any living creature in the forest will be there for you when or if I’m not.”
“Jongdae...”
“Promise me that you’ll seek refugee there.”
“I will never leave your side.”
“Promise me m’lady!”
“I promise. I promise I will do what you said.”
He brought you to his lap, holding you tight, wanting time to pass. Even if it was his own execution, he wanted it to come and be dealt with already.
-
Hours had passed and everything was cold and quiet. No sleep could come to any of you. You hated the impotence you were feeling for not being able to use your magic to escape. Jongdae had the same feeling. There wasn’t any living plant anywhere near you to try and use his own magic. He wanted to protect you and all he could do was embrace you in silence.
He hated it. It felt worse than the slow burning death that the bishop had threatened you with. You both wanted to put an end to the agony of not knowing if you’d be getting caught. You didn’t even care about being sentenced to burning at the stake anymore.
“You hear that?” He asked.
You listened carefully, “Steps Jongdae! Someone is coming.”
“How are we going to get the attires?” He whispered.
“We have no other choice but to knock down anyone coming inside.”
A frown began to form in his face “I don’t want to do that. Make them sleep, or let me talk to them.”
“We have no time for that, Jongdae. It’s alright.”
He nodded, unsure. He wished he was at home, where he had all kind of potions to make that experience easier, somehow.
A woman entered the storage room. You could see she was big in size, not a maid at all.
“Lentils… where are they? Susana! Come help me find these damn lentils!” She yelled.
Another woman joined, much younger and wearing the same attire as Carmela’s, the maid that took you to the bishop’s room.
“Are we out of lentils?”
“Certainly not, they must be her-”
The maid called Susana gasped when she saw you and Jongdae crunched. “Thieves!”
“No! No we are not thieves, we are here captured by the bishop, he-”
“Enough of this nonsense! Call the guards to take them away from here.” Motioned the older lady to Susana.
You stood to your full lenght and punched the lady on her nose so hard that if it wasn’t for her big frame, she would’ve had flown across the storage room.
Susana gasped, scared. She was about to scream but Jongdae held her mouth bringing her close to him by her waist, blinking slowly and muting her immediately.
“You wouldn’t do that would you? A girl that looks this delicate and gentle... you must believe me. The bishop captured us for no reason. We just want to go home.” He smiled. “Can I lower my hand? Can I trust you?”
You watched in awe how he had her hypnotised without magic or even trying hard.
“How-how do you look like this? Are you one of those demons they warned us about?”
“Do I look like a demon to you… Susana?” She shook her head, blushing. “Are you going to help us out?”
She nodded, “what do you need?”
“I’d like you to take off your clothing and give it to me so I can leave without being noticed. Can you do that for me?”
Jongdae let go of Susana, smiling at her to keep the credible atmosphere that he created. He watched her removing her dress. Her cheeks heated up and turned pink. Jongdae didn’t break eye contact with her as he removed his own garments. All of that, while you rolled your eyes and undressed the older lady that you had knocked down.
“Who-who is she?” Susana dared ask almost whispering.
“She’s no one. Another poor captured soul. Don’t mind her.” He winked at Susana this time.
You cleared your throat while you put on what looked like an oversized cook’s attire.
“Done?” You asked, crossing your arms over your chest.
“So Susana, which way do we go?” asked Jongdae.
“Follow the corridor. Do not make eye contact with any superior or the nuns if you see any. The gate should be at your left. Advise the guards at the main gate that you were sent to buy lentils and then, you shall be free.”
“Thank you Susana.” Jongdae took her hand and kissed it slowly, while watching her melt under his touch.
Before turning the doorknob she stopped him,
“Wait! Will I see you again?”
You facepalmed.
“Of course, of course. I’ll be back, wait for me.” He assured her nervously while she fixed her headpiece over his head, smiling. She finally let go of him.
It was noticeable that Susana’s dress ran too short on Jongdae and your own ran big on you but you hoped it could go unnoticed.
“I can’t believe how deadly you are.” You commented looking at him. “You had her just by looking at her tenderly.”
“Me deadly? Who punched that old lady? I’m innocent here, I just… looked at her and spoke sweetly. That’s all.”
“I guess that’s how you caught me, you mischievous warlock.” You laughed walking close to him looking at the floor enjoying what might be your last moment together.
The corridor was empty but you heard shouting and loads of The Bishop’s orders yells.
“I think we need to run ___. Maybe we should go to the garden, where I can use the plants.”
“It’s too risky Jongdae, we are almost at the gates, just keep walking.”
When you reached the gates the guards stopped you looking at both from head to toe.
“Where are you heading?”
“Lentils, sir. We ran out of lentils.”
“One of you is enough,” the guard pushed you out, “she stays here.”
“Go ___.” Jongdae held his hand in front of him.
Another set of guards ran towards the gate. “Stop those women!”
“Run ___! Run!” Jongdae motioned with his hand for you to run away, but you didn’t. You came forward being held by another set of guards, just like him.
“I would never leave you. Ever.”
The guards removed the headpieces off your heads revealing your faces. “What have you done to have Bishop Fernando so upset? We will have nice roasted meat tonight, I guess.”
“Roasted demon... We shall see how well you take the flames.” Added the other guard.
“Take them to see the bishop. He awaits for them, and don’t forget to place the sacks over their heads. They are both warlocks. Don’t look into their eyes.” Explained the higher rank.
“Why didn’t you ran ___!?” Cried Jongdae, loudly.
“Never!”
“Stop talking!” A guard hit his back making him trip over. The realisation that everything had came to an end hit him harder that the thrust itself.
-
You cried loudly begging Bishop Fernando to stop torturing the man you loved. All you could hear were Jongdae’s screams and hisses in pain. You didn’t even know what he was doing to him as the sack in your head hadn’t been removed. You were tied and blinded and the only thing you could hear were Jongdae’s screeches.
“Please stop! Stop! We will be your slaves forever! We will devote ourselves to the church!”
“Too late ___. No one fools Fernando del Castillo. Especially a witch.”
“Jongdae? Jongdae answer me! Did you kill him?”
“Oh no, I didn’t. I will leave that to the flames, to feast on his soft flesh.”
“Jongdae!”
“I’m alright, m’lady. It will soon be over. Don’t fear anything.”
“Yeah, that’s right. Don’t fear anything ___. You will love what I have prepared for you.”
The guards dragged both of you through the corridors, merciless. You finally felt some light so you knew you had arrived to the yard where the stake was. You could hear the the crowd damning you for practising magic and being against God’s will. It was ironically funny how that simple people wouldn’t understand that the ones using God’s name were, actually, the same ones who practised everything against God’s will.
“Sacrifice the demon and the witch!”
Like a mantra... It was piercing your ears.
“Jongdae! My love! Don’t fear anything. You taught me that so, don’t fear anything.”
But he didn’t reply. Instead, the sack was removed from your head while a guard pulled at your hair, trapping you in a wooden pillory. It was a known artefact used for torture, but it was never used during the burning ritual. You thought that maybe the bishop would torture both of you for a few days and give you another chance. However, your head was secured to look in one direction and one direction only… Jongdae, who was tied to a stake, bare chested, trying to adjust his eyes to the sunlight on his face.
What was happening? What was the bishop’s plan to break your heart even more than it was already?
“Jongdae! Jongdae!”
He followed the sound of your voice that stood from all the rest, his heart guiding him to where you were.
“___! Don’t be sad, please! It will all end soon, don’t be afraid!”
“Jongdae! I want to die with you!”
“I will never leave you. Even if you can’t see me, I’ll be with you. Remember what I told you.”
“Jongdae let me make you sleep...”
“I don’t want to sleep. I want to fill my eyes with your image till the end. Please. Give me that at least and don’t cry. I want your smiling face to be the last thing I see.”
-
The hours passed like that, telling each other how much you were in love, how that wouldn’t be the end and how he wouldn’t feel pain because the last thing he’d be seeing would be your face.
Bishop Fernando arrived in his full ceremonial attire, holding a cross longer than his own height. The crowd cheered for him while he asked for silence.
“We gathered here today after we, successfully, caught this man possessed by Satan.” The crowd cheered louder. “A strange man whose malformations’ reason is having Satan inside him, so it makes him look this strange. A man that has fornicated out of the blessed God’s wedlock with this woman. From fire you come and to fire you shall return.”
“To hell with the possessed man!”
“I want to die too! Bishop Fernando, I deserve to be punished too. Please burn me with him!”
“We cannot let Satan take you. Your punishment will be presence this holy ceremony and live in shame after giving your body to a demon!”
“Burn the infidel!” Cried the crowd.
“In nomine Patris, et Fillii, et Spiritus Sancti.”
“AMEN!!!”
The men in charge of the fire lowered the fire torches to the dead wooden branches underneath Jongdae’s feet and the flames started. As the fire reached Jongdae he didn’t scream, he didn’t fight it, he just smiled to let you think he was alright. You, on the other hand, didn’t give him a good last memory to keep. You kept trying to make him sleep but he knew you too well, so he kept blinking. You begged and screamed, trying to set yourself free in vain.
“Please! Please let me, Kim Jongdae!”
“Call me Jongdae Kim one last time.”
“Don’t blink! Don’t blink!” You cried as loud as you could.
“I love you ___. M’lady. The owner of my soon free soul. Everything I was will accompany you. Never harm yourself or you’ll harm me. Promise me! Call me Jongdae Kim… Tell me you’ll treasure my soul in you.”
“I can’t, Jongdae! LET ME! LET ME MAKE YOU SLEEP!”
“I love you.”
Jongdae closed his eyes smiling. His bow shaped lips creating the most beautiful smile for you to keep as a memory.
“Jongdae Kim! Jongdae Kim!”
He was gone...
-
Numerous rotten eggs were thrown at you after the fire died. People spitted on you on their way out of the yard, uncaring of anything. Your eyes lifted and fixated on the now empty stake. Even Jongdae’s skeleton had vanished. Nothing of him remained but his memory and ashes.
“I hope this will teach you that no one messes with Bishop Fernando del Castillo.”
“Kim Jongdae... Kim Jongdae... I’m Kim Jongdae’s woman, the man from Joseon.” You murmured to yourself not wanting to hear anything but Jongdae’s name and that you were his woman.
“Have you gone insane ___? Even if you had, I won’t sentence you to burning at the stake. I’m sentencing you to a miserable life alone. No man will ever want you.”
“Kim Jongdae, Kim Jongdae.” You continued without giving attention to the Bishop.
“Release her and let her go.” He ordered.
“Free? To leave?” Inquired the guards puzzled.
“Yes, free.” Reiterated the Bishop.
The guards at your sides opened the wooden pillory. Your legs couldn’t hold you so you fell on the ground. You crawled your way to the ashes that remained, taking them in your hands. You found Jongdae’s ring. It was still very hot to the touch, but you didn’t care.
“Kim Jongdae!” You cried loudly.
“M’lady.” You heard a whisper. You looked around, eyes widening. “Stand and go to the woods, I will protect you there.”
“Jongdae! Kim Jongdae!” You cried over the ashes in your hands.
“Go, m’lady. I’ll be with you forever, as I promised.”
“Witch! Are you speaking to the filthy remainings of the demon?”
You turned around, infuriated at the words of the guards that were kicking you to stand and leave. Your nostrils flared as you dug your nails on the ground. Your breath got heavier. The dirt, ashes, sand and every element around you started to move in circular motion, almost creating a tornado, blocking the sunlight. The guards and the curious audience who were still there gasped, looking at the sky.
“Witch! You dare practise magic at the church’s grounds?”
You knew better. You gathered all the ashes you could in your hands and placed the ring on your finger, running towards the gate and damning your life as a mortal and your inability to join your lover. The inability to avenge his death. You had nothing but useless tears...
The gates were open. All you did was run. Run towards the forest while you got your fair share of insults along the way by merchants and villagers. You ran and ran, noticing the little ashes that remained in your fisted hands. Run until you reached the dark side of the village, far away from your shared home with Jongdae. Far... as far as the cliff.
“Kim Jongdae! I do not wish to live. There’s nothing left for me in this cruel world. I do not belong here. I need to join you. Will you welcome me on the other side? That is my only fear. Will you be there for me?” You spoke to the ashes in your hands, crying as the breeze hit your spent body, the ring heating more and more around your finger.
“Do not harm yourself. Seek refugee in the woods.” You heard his voice. The ashes were speaking to you again.
“I damned myself. I cannot avenge you, and I do not want to live. No man shall ever touch me, Kim Jongdae.”
Then, you heard sounds behind you. When you turned, you saw a few wolves quite close to you. You gasped at the sight, you knew your end had come, whether ravished by the wolves or smashed into the rocks before even reaching the water.
You opened your palms and let the ashes fly away. You watched as the last physical trace of Jongdae left that world. You took a few steps back and ran towards the edge of the cliff. The wolves ran after you.
“I love you, Kim Jongdae.”
You jumped with your eyes closed, waiting for the excruciating pain of the impact of your body hitting the rocks, but it never came. You were afraid to even open your eyes. You had reached the ground. You felt the rocks underneath you, the inability to move and the cold sensation of the ocean at your feet. You weren’t dead. You cried again. At that moment, not even his ashes accompanied you. The world was dark and you couldn't even die in peace. You had cursed yourself to eternal loneliness. To suffer to not be loved ever again. Cursed to remember the image of Jongdae while burning, incapable of helping him.
Every thought came to your head while you couldn’t move. Your limbs suffered an impact that could cause death but, instead, you were just imobile. You cried and cried until you were exhausted, cold, hungry, heartbroken and desperate to just die but, after almost three days without rest, sleep finally took over you.
You could hear his voice, his giggles, his high pitched laughter... You could see his perfect straight hair flying with the wind that caressed his skin, his smile with those beautiful lips pulled at the sides, his buried eyes into little half moons, his eyelashes, his high cheekbones... Kim Jongdae. Just him. His image engraved in your soul.
You slept, regaining your energy and unaware that the seaweeds had crawled out of the water, pulling you inside the sea. They wrapped around your whole body, fixing your broken bones and healing your opened wounds. Just like Jongdae’s magical touch when dealing with his beloved plants, they took care of you. You were then his successor. Every living creature was devoted to you. They felt him inside you. Tthey knew you were his love, the only woman that had empowerment over him. You shall forever be protected and taken care of…
Kim Jongdae’s body left the world, but his soul remained inside you, forever...
You woke up to a wet sensation in your cheek, inshore, refreshed, almost as if the sorrow had vanished. Slowly, you opened your eyes to find the same wolf that was at the cliff, licking your cheek. You gasped, straightening yourself and holding on to your chest but then you remembered what Jongdae had told you...
“Always seek refugee in the forest. Wolves are not enemies. Any living creature is and will always be better than humankind.”
You heard the wolf whimper, unsure if he could get closer.
“Come here.” You smiled extending your hand.
The wolf took a step, sniffing your hand before licking it.
“Are you my Jongdae’s friend?”
He barked before howling. You didn’t know how but you knew the wolf could understand you. You then looked at yourself feeling stronger. No pain. All your bones in place, no open wounds.
You were wearing a dress you didn’t recognise. It was dark green and the texture was unusual. Your hair was perfectly gathered into a braid. You were treated magically. You couldn’t do anything but sit and smile, looking at the horizon.
“Thank you, Kim Jongdae.” You scratched your wrist. “Your memory is enough for me. I’m sorry for what I did. I will forever love you. I will avenge you and I will do as you said.”
You scratched more and more so you looked down to see what was in your wrist that made it so itchy. You pulled your sleeve to uncover it and found a strange mark that looked like healed cuts. They created some sort symbols:
종대김라고 불러주십시오
You didn’t recognise them as the symbols Jongdae used to write. They were new to you, something you never seen before. You tried to wipe it off your wrist but they were in your skin, for you to have forever.
“What is this Jongdae?”
You stood, dusting yourself from the sand and noticed there were about four more wolves waiting there to finally take you home. The wolf next to you licked your wrist, soothing the itch. Then he urged you to ride on his back. It was as if you could understand him.
And so you did, closing your eyes.
“Thank you, Jongdae.”
When you arrived to the cabin Jongdae had built for you the wolves howled, welcoming you. As you got down from the wolf’s back, you noticed how the climbing vines created a natural wall to shield the cabin from the outside world, something Jongdae always wanted to do but you begged him not to. You wanted to cry again at the memory. Perhaps, if you had agreed, none of that would have happened.
As you entered, you noticed everything was the same way you left it. You could feel him in every corner. Vines moving underneath your feet. It felt like they were looking for Jongdae.
“Don’t be sad, m’lady.” His whisper startled you.
“Jongdae!” You exclaimed turning around.
He wasn’t there. It was coming from you. You pressed on your chest, smiling. He wasn’t there, but how many people in history had the privilege to carry the one they loved inside them after their death? You felt him. Jongdae never left your side. You understood it when you noticed how the tree branches moved with you as you walked in the little cabin, almost as if they were admiring you, because they missed Jongdae. Then, you had his power.
You had Jongdae’s magic.
-
You learned to love your new life alone, accompanied by wolves that generously brought you rabbits and other kills, almost every day, so you could eat luxuriously. They had become your family.
You learned, with the help of a little bit of Jongdae’s magic, his beautiful language and regretted how you never really heard him speak it. He had the ability to learn faster than any warlock you had ever seen or heard of and, learning the local language had been a piece of cake for him. After that, you had the same ability.
Just... the symbols on your wrist... you looked all over his potion books. Nothing. Nothing to be found that looked in any way similar.
“It was here Bishop Fernando. I’m positive!” You heard someone speak too close to your cabin, your shelter. Closer in a way that made you feel uncomfortable.
And that name… Bishop Fernando. That name that you had never wanted to ever hear again...
You looked from the window, feeling how the vines wrapped around you, protectively.
“Useless! We’ve been going in circles for quite a long time! Here we are again in front of this green wall. She certainly isn’t here!”
It was him. Bishop Fernando del Castillo. Every hair in your body stood. You shivered while tears formed in your eyes. You felt the muzzle of the wolf on your han, followed by a reassuring lick.
“I’m alright, I’m alright...” You repeated looking at him. “But I need to go face him. I need to avenge Jongdae’s death.”
The wolf growled and the vines tightened the grip.
“We need to. We can’t hide forever! Help me... Please...” You caresed the vines around your waist, also petting the wolf. “For Kim Jongdae!”
The vines pulled you out of the window, setting you on the ground, carefully. You could see the bishop, accompanied by the same guard that wanted you for himself the day they caught you, through the green wall. You touched the leaves and they understood that you wanted them to reveal you. Slowly, the wall went down. You heard the guard gasp at the magnificent scene.
“You haven’t stopped with those tricks, witch?” Asked the bishop smirking. Unfearing. Challenging.
The wolf howled loudly from behind you, making the guard take a step backwards. “We should leave, Bishop Fernando.” He suggested.
“In the name of God! I ask you to seize the actions of Satan!” Bishop Fernando raised his cross in front of him.
“Stop with that Nando.” You cooed informally.
The guard got on his horse, urging the bishop to get on his too. When Bishop Fernando tried to do the same, four more wolves appeared and circled them. The guard’s horse got agitated and he he ended up falling to the ground. Both horses escaped right away, leaving the men surrounded by five wolves.
“Even though you had faulted me and my man, I will let you go. I am not cruel, unlike this man of God.” You addressed the guard. “Let him go!” You motioned for the wolves to let the guard free.
The Bishop tried following him but was faced with a growling wolf that brought him back to the middle of the circle.
“Let me go, witch! Or else, I’ll ask God to punish you in life and in the afterlife.”
“God doesn't listen to filthy, cruel and bloodthirsty men. You are going to hell, Fernando, and you are going to hell as I watch you.”
“What-what are you going to do?”
“On your knees.” You ordered. He obeyed. “You’ve killed the man I love, in cold blood and after abusing of us. Nasty!”
“I am sorry.”
“Keep asking for forgiveness while my wolves feast on you.” You motioned for the wolves to take the easy prey.
Some vines wrapped around his legs, arms and neck, holding him in place while the wolves attacked him. You heard the bishop cry and writhe in pain. They teared his limbs off fiercely. His agony filled your eardrums with pleasure. You didn’t stay to watch. It was more than satisfying hearing him apologizing over and over again while his skin, bones and flesh were ripped apart, and then, his voice died…
You laid down on your once shared bed with Jongdae, that was next to the window, and looked at the ceiling. You placed your hands over your tummy, playing with the ring around your finger, watching the branches entering from the window. Flowers blooming all over the room as sleep took over you. Sleep that took forever… A happy sleep you ran alongside Jongdae, at the beach. You felt the sand at your feet, the coldness of the water, his kisses over your lips, his heartbeat next to yours...
You slept until April 2019, awoken by a little bird that sat on your nose.
“It’s time to wake up m’lady. I’m back, and I’m waiting for you.”
