Saves the Day at Republic 3/8/19
Saves the Day is out on tour supporting their new album 9, which was famously panned by P-fork but as usual, they hate it, I love it. I've never been at a bad STD show and I've seen them a handful of times (along with Chris solo acoustic supporting Dashboard Confessional). I saw a comment on FB that the last time someone saw them, Chris was drunk and couldn't even sing and I was slightly worried about that, but we ended up with the fun version of Chris and a pretty fun set list as well.

Chris did come up on stage with sunglasses on and did not play guitar the entire show. That was definitely different but it was fine. I mean, I'm not gonna complain about a set list that starts with "At Your Funeral" and ends with "Sell My Old Clothes" and "Firefly". Not to mention "Get Fucked Up", "Holly Hox" and "Freakish". As I said previously, the new material is fine and works well with all the old faves. I do like that "Xenophobic Blind Left Hook" and "Remember" from their 2013 self-titled album is in the set list. I know everyone wants stuff from Through Being Cool and Stay What You Are (myself included) but I appreciate set lists with good stuff from all the albums. Lots of video on my insta if you want to check it out for yourself
P.S. The crowd for this show was small and I kinda expect that at emo shows in New Orleans. It's just *not* a thing here and it bums me out, but I am so appreciative of still getting shows here. Plus this crowd was way cool and it was nice to go to a STD show and not have to deal with a bunch of drunk bros.
well this show flyer matches my blog so you know i gotta post it
