this is the oldest picture i have of me and some friends hanging out at our tambayan. i think this was taken between 03 or 04. i can't really say. this is probably because i have so many memories of this place that dates elude me. for me, it matters not when it happened; just that it happened.
for anybody who is and who have been member of the org, the tambayan will always be a place of many a splendid memories.
i started to hang out there august 2002. back then the org was still Youth on Fire. the tambayan then was painted red, with streaks of black. on fire na on fire tlaga.
just like the org who had many transitions (victory christian fellowship to youth on fire to victory campus ministries and now to every nation campus ministries), the tambayan also had a lot of transitions throughout the years. it changed colors, red to blue and to bluer-blue. it also changed locations. by only a few meters. now there are already two benches that we call tambayan.
bakit ko ba sinusulat to?
last night i recieved a text message from glenn. the text said that by next week, we will loose our tambayan. we would have to find another place to call tambayan.
before this happens, i think it is but right to do a simple epitaph for our beloved tambayan.
the tambayan has been like home to me, for a lot of people actually, during college. it was the place to go when you have no classes, holidays. even days when you don't want to go to your classes, people go here, para ma-encourage na pumasok.hehe. this is where i would always go when we get dismissed earlyor when too late to go to class.this is the best place to go when you need encouragement or any form of empathy. this is where people always meet up, do meetings, celebrate bdays, settle conflicts... the list goes on. yeah, the tambayan is a crucial part in the life of any vcf/yof/vcm/encm-up member.
so yes, thank you tambayan! we will miss you!
