Calling All MCRtists
In honor of the new year, I’m starting an MCR rotoscope project! (ignore the embarrassing title i couldn’t resist)
What is rotoscoping?: Rotoscoping is an animation technique in which individual frames of a video are traced over by an artist. here’s the inspiration for this project and what it will hopefully end up like! heres another example of a traditionally drawn rotoscope!
What exactly is this project?: I’m looking for anyone who loves mcr, and art! You don’t need to be good at art, at the very least you just need to know how to trace. This project will be a collaboration effort and we will rotoscope an MCR music video. Participants are free to exercise any artistic abilities and you certainly don’t have to draw in a realism style if you do no wish to (again, see the examples). Finished frames can be as simplistic or complex as you wish!
Everyone participating will receive 10-20 frames (depending on how many people participate) from the music video. Everyone will need to trace/draw their frames, (either digital or traditional either is fine!) then send them back in. Once I have gotten all the frames back, I will assemble them back into the video and it will be uploaded!!
What you need to do: -Reblog this post! -Send me and ask/message with your email -Vote here for which video we will rotoscope -That’s is for now!
What comes next: -Everyone will have until January 31 to reblog this post -On Feb 1 I will send out an email to everyone participating that will include your assigned slides as well as further instructions for submitting them, crediting details, etc -Everyone will then have until March 15th (that’s a month and a half!) to work on their slides -The final video will be put together and posted on March 22nd!
