Le chemin est creusé dans l’herbe jaunie. Le chemin est suffisamment emprunté pour que des cheminements parallèles aient été creusé, sur les côtés.

Le chemin est en légère descente, après le creux, le paysage remonte et les flancs de l’escarpement qui barre la vue sont poudrés de neige. 

Ces escarpements rocheux en second plan, sont recouverts de neige. Au-delà, le ciel est bleu et quelques nuages sont accrochés par les pointes neigeuses d’un pic acéré. Ce pic, c’est le grand pic de la Meije.

Le replat sur lequel nous sommes est à 2000 m d’altitude, il s’agit du fameux plateau d’Emparis : un paradis de verdure en été. Aujourd’hui, une savane grillée par le froid de l’automne.

C’est ma première découverte de cette étendue qui, jadis, fut disputée entre bergers des communes avoisinantes. En ce vendredi, dans la solitude de l’intersaison, sous le ciel clair, nous allons prendre des coups de soleil.

La saison de VTT se termine en beauté avec ce jolie tour sur le plateau d’Emparis agrémenté d’un magnifique bivouac en face de la Meije et des sommets alentours enneigés.

Après un long printemps estival qui à permis de continuer à faire de belles sorties de vélo, le froid arrive enfin avec une belle cargaison de neige pour commencer la saison de ski. Pour l’heure, il ne reste plus qu’a nettoyer, réviser et ranger le vélo.
