The words catch him off guard. He’s only overhearing her. They aren’t being spoken to him. Perhaps they were thinking out loud. If that’s the case, should he leave them be? Of course not; That’s the exact opposite of what they’d spoken.
“Are you alright, miss?” Connor chooses to engage, brows raising slightly in his curiosity as he awaited a reply. However, he’d paused in realization. This was no ordinary woman, no ordinary android either. Her face is all too familiar and yet somehow he’d missed it at first. A sense of guilt washes over him, brows now furrowed in frustration as he’d dared to ask them if they were alright.
The scenario is all to clear in his mind, a memory of confliction and distress that he’s sure was felt by her as well. Kamski giving him a gun, giving him a choice; Does he destroy her to further their investigation or spare her, showing empathy and leaving without any information. “I’m so sorry.” Connor is suddenly apologizing; Interrupting before she can even attempt to respond. “I-I didn’t realize.. Are you okay?”
Panic attacks always came at the worst times, sometimes the blonde didn’t even know what caused them, but this one she did...
At first, Chloe didn’t understand why the image affected her so, but when the newscaster suddenly flashed to a photo of Elijah it was like the whole world started spinning in slow motion. She didn’t even hear what the story was about, or how he was involved, just that signature smirk on her creator’s haunted her and before Chloe knew why she was running.
Away from New Jericho, as far as her legs took her, it didn’t matter where, just that she had to leave. Chloe didn’t stop until her systems started notifying her of possible overheating if she continued, so with tears streaming down her cheeks, she collapsed into a side alley.
The deviant had been too lost in her own thoughts and error notifications to hear Connor’s first statement, it wasn’t until the previous deviant hunter drew closer did Chloe finally take note of his presence. “Connor?” Breathing wasn’t necessary for androids, yet her respirators acted like her life depended on it. A part of her wanted to question why he was there, but her mind couldn’t comprehend anything other than fear at the moment. Nonetheless, the blonde was happy she wasn’t alone with her thoughts anymore.
