The Houses As...My family!

My family consists of all four houses, and often get up to some crazy hijinks! I thought this could be a fun post. Let me know what your family is like!

GRYFFINDOR: My mom

everything is a lesson. EVERYTHING.

wants to go on crazy adventures all the time.

“Hey it’s the Grand Canyon! let’s stand on the edge!”

makes all of her kids face their fears (mine is heights, so hence the Grand Canyon)

Rollercoasters are her favorite thing.

Her temper can be pretty bad.

She puts so much effort into making sure we all feel loved

Family supports family, no matter what. She made the whole gang sit in 10-degree weather for hours just because I had a track meet in 7th grade.

RAVENCLAW: Me & my sisters

Messy rooms for days

Constant flow and exchange of creativity/ideas

We can sit and craft together for hours without getting bored

Heated debates over plotlines of movies. 

Ranting is our favorite form of communication

“Look, I love you and all, but if you take my hot glue gun one more time I will kill you with it.” 

The most eccentric of the family. 

Our hair changes constantly. Short to long, red to purple; we express ourselves through our locks and love each other for it. 

3AM conspiracy theories over cups of hot cocoa while watching Futurama.

We each have our own passions: mine is writing, my older sisters is fashion/makeup, and my younger sister loves cooking. 

Find peace in our unspoken understanding of each other, always.

SLYTHERIN: My twin 

Constant schemes and pranking

One of the hardest working dudes I know. When he sets his eyes on something, he’ll make sure he gets it. Always. 

Hates chores though. Will talk you into doing the dishes before you even realize that he’s done it. 

got a BB gun in the third grade. and held me HOSTAGE with it for my Halloween candy three months later. 

Sarcasm. Constant. Sarcasm. 

Has had his life planned out since we exited the womb. 

He knows how to manipulate people to get what he wants. Not always a bad thing, though. I’ve seen him reason with my sister whenever she’s been at her worst with depression, and convince her to come watch a family movie when the rest of us couldn’t. 

Sometimes shady and secretive but will protect his family no matter the cost. 

HUFFLEPUFF: My older brother & Dad

The quietest/most pensive of the family

Approach almost every conflict with kindness first. 

The ones to reach out to everyone for family dinners/reunions

That being said, no snack is safe. Labeled leftovers mean nothing to them. They eat without regard. 

Absolutely LOVe gift shopping. Also, buy little “thinking of you” trinkets a lot.

Stubborn as hell. Once they’ve set their mind on something, they aren’t likely to change it. 

Dad jokes. Dad jokes galore. 

Not the best at apologizing but will do their damndest to make sure you know they care.  

Nothing you ever do will push them away. The biggest hearts, and most genuine souls.

Whenever it seems the world has beaten you down...

A Gryffindor is going to pick you back up. They are the house of courage and bravery, and refuse to let anyone live in a state of fear and resignation. Their love may be tough, and brutally honest, but they will say what you need to hear to get you back on your feet. Even if it hurts. 

A Ravenclaw is going to find ways to make your life easier. Chances are, they’ve devised a plan that’s going to get you out of whatever rough patch you’re in. They can be the best problem solvers there are, and they will think of a million different ways to make sure that you never get in that situation again. They will dedicate their time and energy to helping you improve, so that you can avoid the issue altogether in the future. 

A Slytherin is going to protect you. They are masters at manipulation and cunning, and while you may never realize it, they have gone and dealt with the issue so you don’t have to. They’ll pull whatever strings necessary to ensure that you are OK, and will probably never tell you that they’ve done it. Much like the snake, they will strike out and sink their venom into anything that dare hurt you. 

A Hufflepuff is going to comfort you. They are the ones you turn to when you need your bandages dressed and your bruises kissed. A hufflepuff is going to speak words of encouragement into your life, and nothing but positivity, all while going out of their way to brighten your day. They will think of the little things that will make you smile, and put their all into persuading your happiness.

A Ravenclaw’s love...

It’s late nights sitting on roofs and staring at the stars. It’s noticing every detail about that person and soaking it in, soaking it all in, because you want to truly know them. It’s long conversations about your favorite things, and fun debates just because. It’s willing to drop everything on a dime to solve their problems for them, because you don’t want to see them in any pain. 

It’s writing little messages on sticky-notes and leaving it in their lunch. It’s bonding over a Netflix show that you absolutely only watch together. It’s the feeling of floating on top of water; of being at peace yet knowing that an entire undiscovered world is right underneath you. 

It’s wandering around a city together and finding your new favorite spot. It’s learning a new skill so that you can participate in their favorite hobby, and making it your goal in life to make them smile every single day. It’s thoughtful presents that will have special meaning to that one person for the rest of their lives. 

A ravenclaw’s love is not clinical. It is dreamy, easy, curious love, where you truly learn what it means to share a soul with another. It is accepting the other person, flaws and all, because not one of us is perfect. It is a love that makes you feel as though you finally belong.

A Slytherin’s Love

It’s waking up before the sun rises and just lying together. It’s a subtle love that you may not notice, but that is always there. It’s kissing their chapped lips and tracing their scars and telling them that you love all of it, every single inch. 

It’s linking pinkies as you walk side by side. It’s late night arguments that are always resolved because there’s no point going to bed angry. It’s texting them to make sure they got home safe, and always being on call if they need you. 

It’s changing your emergency contact to their name. It’s breathing in the cold air on a spring day that fills your lungs and makes everything feel clear. It’s having your own inside-language that no one else understands but the two of you, and laughing despite yourself in public. 

It’s private moments that they’ll cherish forever. It’s having that one table you always sit at lunch, and sharing headphones when their favorite song comes on. It’s knowing their emotions as well as your own, so that you know exactly what to do when they’re upset.

A Slytherin’s love is one that makes you feel safe. It’s private moments that only you share, that makes you bond in a way you didn’t think was possible. It’s a deeply personal, fragile love that can make you feel as if the rest of the world has faded away. It’s impromptu photo shoots and a letting down your walls and never ever doubting that you are beautiful and worthy. A Slytherin’s love will make you feel new and raw; like a butterfly that has finally, finally emerged from it’s cocoon.

Hi! I’m assuming this is one of those ‘Ask Me Anything’ posts! Happy to oblige!

1) I’m in Ravenclaw!

2) My favourite professor at Hogwarts would have to be Professor Longbottom. Awesome dude. 

3) An owl! I’m  allergic to Cats, and toads aren’t my style. 

4) My favorite character is Tonks. She is brave, smart, and funny, and sticks up for herself! She’s all around amazing, basically. 

5) Neutral marauders?? They have an amazing friend group, but they bullied Snape pretty bad. They’re cool. 

6) nONE omg. 

7) My favorite book is Ella Enchanted. I read it when i was a kid, and saw so much of myself in the titular character. I love her so so much. 

8) The best father figure towards Harry was probably Hagrid. He consistently showed him love and supported him no matter what. Hagrid doesn’t get enough credit. 

9) Hmm. I love movies, but my favorite has either got to be Beasts of the Southern Wild, Lion, or the Addams Family. All beautiful films that I can watch and never get tired of watching. 

10) Ooo interesting. I relate the most to Ginny. She’s a fierce girl who shapes her own destiny. 

11) UMBRIDGE. Alright, hear me out. Was Voldemore crazy and genocidal?? Yes. But Voldemort was also born without the capacity to love. He literally did not know how. He was still evil, there’s no excuse for that, but this explains it. Umbridge was a cruel bigot who had the fully capacity to emphasize with others and chose not to. She turned Hogwarts into a hell, and regularly made students and teachers she felt were ‘different’ uncomfortable. Words cannot describe how much I dislike Umbridge. The worst. 

12) Snape is a morally gray character for me. Was he a jerk? Yes. Do I think he loved Lily? No. He abused kids. He aligned himself with Voldemort. He literally was a students worst fear. However, he also tried to atone for his mistakes. Snape wasn’t a perfect character. He was neither an absolute hero nor absolute villian, and I don’t think he ever shed the guilt of being why Lily died in some capacity. Also, while his abuse of Harry cannot be justified, it is understandable. (James bullied Snape and humiliated him for years, and then ended up in a relationship with his only friend. I don’t think Snape ever forgave him.)
