[you broke my gift.] they puff out their cheeks in annoyance!
An unusual, vaguely animal form? The bizarre way it... communicated?
A palisman? Here?!
On pure impulse, the emperor lunges at the strange creature, attempting to catch them.
A type of short-sword, not larger than a dagger, but with a blade that zigs and zags. It is a wicked weapon, known for wicked deeds.
He did not question how such an object got here. There's a distant, cold look in his eyes as he picks up the blade, running a fingertip along the edge. As much as he is loathe to admit, he is not immune to certain sentimentalities, particularly those that evoke the most unpleasant of emotions.
"What had to be done was done," he reminded himself, a mantra that stuck with him throughout the ages.
The emperor did his best to quell the feelings that stirred within as he stashes the wretched blade within his cloak, setting out with firm intent towards the hole in the center of Spirale to promptly dispose of it, as useful as such an item could be here.
object left in askbox meme: a pinecone!
The motion is practically reflexive, reaching down to snatch the item up. Despite the sharp, hard bristles, it splinters easily in his metal-plated gloves, the scales of the pinecone sloughing off unceremoniously.
No smoke rose from its crushed form.
Ah, just a pinecone. Of course, there were no palismen here, so far as he knew... but it never hurt to check, did it?
i never thought i'd love having belos in the group but you portray our favorite evil angry grandpa so well!! seeing you post gives me "oh god oh heck" feelings in the absolute best way jkghjdfgh
[ooc] im cryin this means. a whole lot ;a; im v thankful we have such a good cast at large tbh!!!
canon questionnaire: 1, 21 ?
What made you pick up this character?
Admittedly it was initially a fun little "haha what if I apped Belos to Isola wouldn't that be funny he's so freaky" that kinda became serious in a really fun way? I hadn't done this much show theorizing and character analysis (given the type of villain he was I wanted to be pretty meticulous about portrayal) since Gravity Falls ended. (But y'all I've read more about Puritan norms, practices, and history than I've ever wanted to in my life.)
21. Which song do you feel describes your character the most and why?
I'll do two because Philip and Belos are kind of... slightly separate in my brain? Philip: Scotland by The Lumineers (lyrics/song) Belos: Nine Eyes by Brown Bird (lyrics/song)
cattail & iris
Cattail: Is your character at peace with themself? Why or why not?
As of what we've seen and given his canon point, yes, I think Belos is at peace with himself. His entire sense of self is wrapped up within the guise of a savior. It is both the mantle he has donned to convince the Boiling Isles to trust him - the one who rescued witches from the evils of wild magic - as well as his "true" identity as a savior of humanity. Centuries amongst witches have not swayed his mind. He truly, undoubtedly believes he is following the right course of action. To him, his pathway is a recourse to peace, both for his internal and external worlds.
Iris: If your character could send one person a message, who and what would it be?
"If only you had seen the error of your ways, we would be standing here, on this day, together."
Marigold: Describe a time or reason your character felt jealousy.
Moonflower: What’s one dream your character has had?
Marigold: Describe a time or reason your character felt jealousy.
Oh, was it ever so long ago.
Moonflower: What’s one dream your character has had?
The same dream he has followed for hundreds of years - living just long enough to see his plans through.
