This morning I didn't feel like getting out of bed. Much less did I want to get dressed and do my hair. It's one of those days where insecurity shows its ugly head and whispers in your ear... You are not enough! It made me think of things I thought I had gotten over... moments, people, doubts and shadows. But today was also one of those days where I chose to remember the promise I made myself. The promise to not give up and to put myself first, even if just this time. So I took this picture... wild hair, no makeup, no pose. Completely natural, no masks, no filters, no pretensions. I took it so I could look at how much I've changed and how much I've grown. It's hard to talk about self-love and confidence when you grew up in a society that taught you to hate your body. A society that pushes us to look at ourselves like bacteria under a microscope... pick ourselves apart and point out all our flaws. A society that tells us every day that we're not perfect or good enough. And when it's made us HATE ourselves they then make money feeding off of the insecurity it created. STOP! It's time to stop and change the recording! I still look at myself and focus on what I don't like. Are my breasts saggy, is my skin not as taut as before, is my smile not bright enough... but now I also notice my eyes are brighter. I don't get out of breath if I walk up the stairs. I can run, I can swim, I can follow 12 women and a coach, at my own pace but without quitting! I am perfectly imperfect, I am capable, I am beautiful, I am one of a kind... I am MORE than enough, and those who can't see it better keep on walking. I have no time to beg, I am on a mission to become my best self. #earlyriser #perfectlyimperfect #empoweredbeauty #confidentisbeautiful #findingmyhappy #workinprogress #madeformore #selfconfidence #loveyourselfhealyourself https://www.instagram.com/p/B4v3AKLhPlb/?igshid=13mafkolxkcfi
