Summary:
----------------
1. Our fear of running out of ideas is enough to stop creativity altogether. We run scared from the possibility of the waves crashing long before they actually do (and sometimes wouldn’t at all if we didn’t freak out so early).
2. Our brains are incredible and capable of much more than we realize. There’s always more gas left in the tank, so to speak. When you’re exercising, it’s mind over matter and the same goes for when you’re trying to come up with ideas. Trust they’re there, and they will be.
3. Take your mind out of it. Free-write your thoughts without judgment and let the ideas flow. Stretch out your wings from the rules you’ve set up and the styles and structures you’ve known to follow your entire life. Liberate yourself from convention and let your creativity flow.
4. Give into your “procrastination.” Learn how to become productive while you’re being pulled mentally in all directions. Take a walk, cook a meal, trick your brain into thinking it’s “not working” and soon enough, it’ll be back on track.
5. Give your brain a visual treat. Scan through images without commentary, just colors and visuals and beautiful worlds. Distract yourself from the task at hand and you’ll be amazed at how quickly you run back to it, and have incredible fuel for the next chapter.

How to Keep Coming Up with Million Dollar Ideas, Even When You’re Tapped Out
The fear of being completely out of creative ideas, boy, it’s a BIG ONE!
Today we’re going to talk about creative fatigue.
What happens when we come up with a “big idea” that we’re excited about, only to have it shut down within minutes?
How can we navigate our fear of never being able to come up with another idea as good?
What happens when we find out that we’re “creatively tapped out”?
We think it’s the end of the world even if it’s just for a moment. We tell ourselves, “This has been done before, this is nowhere near the quality of the last idea, this is hopeless…”
We’re so good at bringing ourselves down in moments of struggle.
But what if there was a way that we could break through this frustration as soon as we find ourselves falling into it?
That’s the lesson we’ll be covering today in this episode of the Solo Millionaire Academy.
It’s a simple and effective method that can take your stress over pushing through writer’s block into a creative wellspring. We’ve all got an infinite amount of creative ideas swirling around in our head; it’s just about figuring out the proper methods to tap into it.
I want to share a story with you about my struggle with this issue.
During one of my first “big breaks” in my career, I found myself in an incredible position: I had sold a concept for my very first book.
It was such an incredible feeling! I can only describe it as feeling, “infinite,” or “indestructible.” I was riding that high of truly believing in myself and that I could make anything happen.
My celebration was short-lived, however. It seemed that as soon as I was given the greenlight for my book, I was asked the dreaded question, “So -- what else do you have?”
I was barely taking my victory lap from my first book sale! This took me completely by surprise, so I did the only thing I thought of at that moment, I lied.
I told them I had plenty of ideas to pitch, and soon enough I had an appointment on my calendar looming over me.
I knew that I locked myself in, and there was little room for escaping. I had to come up with a full page of other book ideas to pitch, and they had to be just as good, if not better than my previous one.
When I sat down to work --I felt like I was having an out of body experience. Absolutely no ideas were coming. Nothing. Not even the glimmer of an idea. I didn’t feel like myself at all and the stress of the meeting day approaching closer and closer terrified me.
I remember having dinner with a friend and describing my struggles to him. I told him, “I don’t think I can come up with anything else. I’m all dried up. I’m going to have to go into this meeting and disappoint these people. I probably won’t ever sell another book idea again. This is it.”
Even though I was so desperate and so down on my luck at that moment, I’m glad that my friend didn’t sugarcoat their words to make me feel better.
Instead, he told me exactly what I needed to hear:
“Don’t tell anyone else what you’ve told me. Tomorrow you’re going to forget everything you’ve just said. You’re going to start over. You’re going to sit at your desk with a pad of paper and a pen, and you’re going to write everything -- and I mean everything. That is how you’re going to work through this.”
Our brains are incredible, they push harder when we need it -- they tap into endorphins that can provide motivation and confidence that we can get through any obstacle.
I was considering this in regards to a famous quote:
“Don’t waste time waiting for inspiration. Begin, and inspiration will find you.” H. Jackson Brown Jr said that, and I couldn’t agree more.
Eventually, I learned to break through my writer’s block and pitched a bunch of ideas that I’m still proud of to this day.
When it comes to coming up with million dollar ideas be it for your business, your life, or for the next book to top the bestseller’s list, I’ve found that the following steps saved my life. I’m certain it can help save yours.
Tap into your “Free writing mind” with a paper and pen.
My friend was onto something when he gave me that incredible advice over dinner. When we find ourselves struggling with creativity, worrying about the lack of ideas we’re having just perpetuated the problem.
We need to take our minds out of it in order to truly break through. Let’s do this at the most basic, literal level.
Sit down and take out a paper and pen and just write - set a timer for 15 minutes and write without stopping. Write until your hand hurts. Don’t even look down at what you’re writing until the timer goes off.
After you’re done, yes, a lot of the writing you did will look like jibberish. Chances are; there will be something in there worth exploring. Follow any idea that gives a spark and see it through.
Then if you’re still tapped out, do this again and again until you find something worth exploring.
Give into your “procrastination” and become more productive.
Take a walk, Cook something, clean your house - this will ACTUALLY help you get more work done! I promise!
This is a classic writer’s block trick for a good reason - it simply works.
Changing our environments helps spark ideas we never knew existed. Plus the boost you’ll get from the Vitamin D contained in sunlight can only raise your mood to more pleasant heights.
Look at images without commentary
Some of my favorite image-based websites are Pinterest, or a simple google images search. Looking at a bunch of images without words or commentary can help tap into your more creative right brain.
Use the same method as before and write down every idea you experience as you scroll.
Hopefully, that helps you become an indestructible creative power.
Thank You and be good to yourself!
