They had been bantering back and forth for what seemed like only a few minutes. But the clock on the wall showed that the two had actually been chatting for hours. It had been an accident encounter really. Stubby had been sitting there, back turned. James, believing it to be his best mate, walked up, immediately letting a flirtatious greeting slip.
So, when Stubby revealed he was not, in fact Sirius Black, James immediately started to apologize, but the other waved him off. Instead, he started flirting right back. This brought a laugh from both boys, and James sat down next to Stubby Boardman.
From there, they had been talking about anything and everything they could think of, occasionally throwing in a pick up line just for kicks and giggles. But, as Stubby now sat, intensely staring at James, it caused the Potter boy not to be so sure if the next words were a joke or not.
A little taken aback, James coughed, the drink he had been sipping on sputtering out of his mouth. “Shit.” Wiping off his shirt with his hand, he turned back to the other, laughing. “I think I just kind of killed the moment,” he said, but was greeted with the same intense stare.
And before he knew what was happening, Stubby Boardman was leaning forward, pressing his lips to James’s briefly before pulling away. Eyes wide, James could only stare at the other boy as he sat there.
There was a wink, followed by a ‘see you around, Potter,’ and Stubby Boardman left, leaving a confused and still slightly flustered James Potter behind.
