I have thoughts for today’s prompt (”Scars”) but I also have to go to work tomorrow, which, how ironic.
No, no I’m not using this prompt challenge to process my emotional trauma, no, of course not why would you think that...

When people say “it’s the new normal”
I guess this is what they meant.

Murphy's Law of the Pee-Pee Dance, EMS Version
1. If you need to go (but not badly), unzipping your jump pants will be a smooth, single-motion maneuver. Totally painless.
2. If you have to pee before the call and you have to hold it, your patient will be a hoarder who is calling because they've had a headache for three days. You'll need to dig a trench through their piles of garbage to help them out. When you get to the ER, you'll have to sit in the hallway and wait for at least ten minutes, dancing without trying to be obvious (and failing miserably). All you'll be able to think about is Niagara Falls. When you *finally* hand off patient care and find an unoccupied latrine, you'll be too afraid to move for fear that you'll piss yourself, have a two-minute fight with your belt buckle, catch your thumbnail on your zipper and rip part of it off, and try not to spray before you can sit down. Then you'll angrily clean up the mess you made because G-d knows you don't want that cute nurse walking in behind you and thinking you're a slob.
Anyone else have the worst time falling back asleep after an early morning call?
Here here! 🍻 & a Happy EMS week to all you filthy animals! May your week be filled with EMS rooms full of actual food, potty breaks and naps. 🤘🏼
