Huawei Honor 9i Launched with Four Cameras, Full-View Display at ₹ 17,999
Huawei owned sub-brand Honor included his name in Bezel-Less Full View display smartphones list. On Thursday Honor launched its first 5.9-inch Full View Display Smartphone Honor 9i in India, priced at Rs. 17,999. The Honor 9i is Honor’s first four camera smartphone and comes with the dual camera at back with an all metal body, fairly powerful specifications for the price, an edge-to-edge display and Android 7.0 Nougat. the handset will be available exclusively on Flipkart starting October 14. It will be available in three colours: Platinum Gold, Navy Blue, and Midnight Black. Honor 9i launch offers will be revealed on the release date only.
Gionee S10 was the world’s first phone with four cameras and it was unveiled in China in May. InFocus Snap 4 was the First smartphone launched in India with Four Cameras. The Honor 9i is extremely different from the Honor 9 which was launched in China in June. In fact, the smartphone is very similar to the Huawei Nova 2i which was launched in Malaysia just a few days ago and the Huawei Maimang 6 which made its way to Chinese shores last month.The Huawei owned-brand also launched the 10000mAh Quick Charge Power Bank, priced at Rs 2.399. It will be available via the Honor online store for India, with a Diwali offer till October 28 that makes it available at a discounted price of Rs. 1,999.

With the Honor 9i smartphone, Huawei aims to compete with the likes of the Moto G5s Plus, Nokia 6, Xiaomi Mi A1 and the recently launched LG Q6+ which also comes with a bezel-less design.

The Honor 9i features a bezel-less design with an edge-to-edge screen and a screen to body ratio of 83 percent. Thanks to the metal unibody design, matte back and minimal bezels, the smartphone looks quite premium and futuristic. The rounded corners, curved edges and 2.5D glass on front aid in-hand feel and help reduce the bulk of the smartphone.
The Honor 9i comes with a 5.9-inch FullHD+ edge-to-edge display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. Huawei claims that the minimal bezels allow them to fit a 5.9-inch display into what is effectively a 5.5-inch smartphone form factor. The ‘FullView’ display has a resolution of 2160 x 1080 and is covered by 2.5D glass which not only looks premium but enhances in-hand feel.

Honor 9i is powered by Huawei’s own octa-core Kirin 659 processor powers the handset clocked at 2.36GHz coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM. The storage is expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card slot. Honor 9i runs Android 7.0 Nougat with EMUI 5.1 OS skin on top. The handset is backed by a 3340mAh battery which the company claims can deliver up to two days of standby time. The fingerprint sensor is at the back.
It features 16MP dual lens camera +2MP lens on the back, while there is a 13MP+2MP front camera set up on the front. The front camera also has a smart selfie toning flash. Honor 9i has a metal unibody design with vertically-aligned dual-rear camera setup. Other features of the back camera include Pro photo mode, Pro video, Light painting, Night shot, Panorama, Slo-mo, and more. Both the front and back cameras support bokeh feature that can be used to click pictures with the subject in sharp focus, while the background is blurred.
The company adds that the Honor 9i features the ‘Huawei Histen audio system’ from its 2012 Lab, algorithmically enhancing sound output. Honor is also highlighting Bluetooth aptX support. The handset also comes with some gesture-based shortcuts like ‘draw an S’ for a long screenshot to capture an entire webpage; ‘tap twice with one finger’ for a screenshot, and ‘tap twice with two fingers’ for screen recording.
The Honor 9i supports Hybrid Dual SIM, 4G LTE with VoLTE, WiFi (802.11 b/g/n), Bluetooth 4.2, GPS/A-GPS, NFC. The handset measures 156.2 × 75.2 × 7.5mm and weighs around 164 grams. It comes with a MicroUSB port for charging and data transfer and a 3.5mm headphone jack which is fast becoming a rarity in today’s smartphones. The lack of USB Type C in 2017 is rather disappointing.
