my oc couple there is not quite the same dynamic, personalities, but one reason I like lassiet is.... it’s so close to my cool oc otp. they are both so ridiculous and they should be ridiculous together. (shawn was way too immature for jules anywaysss)
I legit ship that psych ship tho. one of the few things I actually ship and care about. maybe the 6 psych movies can be able shawn/jules divorcing and jules finally finding love in lassie.

the whole album? ok this is gonna be a Post
so this album has “issues”... the mixing. the occasional clumsy mix of bass guitar and 808s. the overblown supersaw chords. the awkwardness of trappy high hats on top of 80s synth ballads like “what are the chances”
but step back for a second and listen to this thing. all the usual stylings of classic duran duran are right there. their unique approach to harmony and rhythm is here in spades. and hey, duran duran has always evolved with the times. in the 80s they were early adopters of that decade’s pop sound. in the 90s, they wrote the wedding album. and just LOOK at RCM!! and they never evolved in that shitty way some bands do where they blindly embrace pop trends and suck at it (cough cough weezer). no, this is PEAK duran duran in their purest and most unironic form
paper gods is the sound of an 80s/90s rock band, but also a band that is in LOVE with dance music. all the crazy production, the house and trap beats, the intensely emotive vocals, the janelle monae feature. it’s not “how do you do fellow kids” it’s genuine and it’s kinda beautiful
