So I’m Hoping You Guys Can Help Me Here

I’m trying to find a story. I read it when I was, like, eleven. Found it on the eighth page of a Google search for “obscure fairy tales.” There was this princess trapped somewhere, and she befriended this mermaid who wanted her to marry her brother, but mermen are really ugly and also she had a boyfriend, so the princess said no, and the mermaid got mad and tried to drown her. And I think there was a prince who got turned into a bird.

And now I’ve been looking for like two years and I haven’t been able to find it again. Anyone have any ideas?
