Sorry not sorry
Enchanted is the best Disney movie ever and you can't convince me otherwise.
The Disney movie Enchanted makes me so angry because the animation in it is so fucking gorgeous but it’s only 13 minutes out of the whole film and i need more
Got bored so I drew a selection of my favourite Disney women based on official sketches or concept art. I am not taking credit for any of this. I did draw and colour it all but none of it is my original art, other than maybe the layout. And I checked and double checked that none of the concept art I copied was any original art by any online artists, though if anything has been mistaken for concept, then i apologies. It was not done purposely. List of characters from left to right: Rapunzel Ariel Mulan Moana Anna Belle Jane Giselle Tiana Merida Tinkerbell Pocahontas
Round Three, Bracket B: Queen Narissa [Enchanted] VS Queen of Hearts [Alice in Wonderland]
Queen Narissa
Queen of Hearts
It appears that my next contender for most fashion inspiring character is not only animated and live action, but also happens to be a Disney character. Number 13 is Giselle from “Enchanted”.
Real quickly, in my previous entry for this countdown, I partially defended my reasons for choosing Anastasia over any of the Disney princesses. I bring this up because some might see Giselle as a Disney princess. It makes perfect sense, she has all the qualities. She looks, and acts the part. But the thing is, Giselle technically is NOT a Disney princess. You see, after Enchanted was released, there was a lot of talk about adding Giselle into the Disney princess line up. But, do to certain situations and agreement problems, that idea never came to be. So when I compared the princesses to Anastasia, I was not including Giselle.
So, what’s my point? Well, just because I refused to put a Disney princess on this list, doesn’t necessarily mean I can’t put a Disney character at all. And out of all the female characters from the House of Mouse, Giselle was the one that seemed the most worthy to be in the list.
The lovable peasant girl is delightfully beautiful, as she is sweet. Giselle’s look is strongly inspired by the older Disney princesses, specifically Snow White and Cinderella. Her clothes represents a person both innocent, and out of this world. Her wardrobe consists mostly of dresses, all of them different in style, but same in concept. Plus, she earns points for making most of her dresses herself.
Perhaps Giselle’s most well-known dress is the one seen during the ‘How Does She Know” song. The combination of blue and pink make it stand out from the crowd, and just the fact that it’s so long and flowy, makes is fascinating to look at. I love that she wears hair ribbons that match it in color, and the flowers are a nice touch too.
My favorite dress of hers is the white dress, with the purple and pink flower prints. You can argue it’s much simpler in design, but I feel it captures both her innocence, as well as her growing maturity.
Her ball gown dress is elegantly sensual, if that even makes sense. It shows her growth as a character, but still allows Giselle to seem wholesome and pure. And her wedding dress….I don’t even know where to begin with it. I think it’s perhaps the best wedding dress I’ve seen a Disney character wear. Both Ariel and Tiana’s wedding dresses fall short next to this one.
Also, I think Giselle is the only Disney female character to actually go out shopping. Seriously, I’ve tried to think of others, and no one else comes to mind. But her shopping montage is so wonderful. To see her go to all these awesome stores in New York, and come out of every door, with more and more bags of clothes, it’s just so awesome. Plus, she tops it off by going to the salon, which makes the montage even better.
Giselle in many ways is my Elsa. Just like many little girls would like to dress up as the Snow Queen, I at times wish I could dress up like Giselle. However, while I’m aware that her look probably isn’t the best for day to day events, it does inspire countless of ideas that I can incorporate to everyday occasions. But regardless of that, Giselle’s look is one that I will always admire. She may not be a princess, but then again she doesn’t have to be. Her beauty is worth all the royalty in this world, and for that, she earns a place on my list.
