Enchanted Waters, Chapter 2
MC: Sumire Tsukishiro (x Samon) OC: Shiroitora (OC Clan: Wani Ayakashi: sub clan of Ryu), Mizuchi EITM: Kyoga, Samon, Shinra, Miyabi, Yukinojo, Chikage, Koten, Kiryu, Ryusen, Hikobei Chapter 1
Later that night, after Samon returned with Sumire and Shiroitora had rested, everyone gathered at the table for dinner and to listen to Shiroitora’s story.
“You guys remember Mizuchi, right?” Shiroitora began, keeping her eyes on her teacup as she swirled the amber liquid around.
“He’s the Ryu clan’s right hand man, isn’t he?” Miyabi asked with a slight scoffing tone. The Ayakashis remembered how arrogant Mizuchi was back when they were all enrolled in the Ayakashi Gakuin.
“He’s always had his eye on me from back then,” she grumbled. “He somehow got Ryusen to order my Dad to give me to Mizuchi as an arranged marriage. Otherwise the Wani would be forced to assimilate back into the main Ryu castle. And we can’t really do that with how we need the water more than the other Ryus.”
"That is not an arranged marriage," Chikage muttered, his arms folded across his chest. "That's more like sacrificing you to save the entire Wani clan’s independence."
“Dad did refuse the order,” Shiroitora sighed. “He and the rest of the Wani clan told me to escape into the Human World and find Kiryu while they handled Mizuchi and Ryusen. Essentially the Wani are planning to fight to stay separate without giving up the Clan head’s daughter. But I wish Kiryu was around. This would never come to where it is now. I’ve been trying to find him ever since I got here.”
“You’re right,” Yukinojo sighed. “We’ll help you find Kiryu.”
“No one knows where he disappeared to,” Chikage sighed. “It’s like he vanished off the face of the planet.”
“Kiryu is one of the strongest Ayakashi,” Yukinojo said quietly. “Even though his father is still acting as clan head, Kiryu has much more power than Ryusen has.”
“So maybe he’s using his clan’s magic to hide himself?” Shinra asked, scratching the side of his jaw.
Miyabi grinned. “The little Oni can actually come up with something good every now and then.”
“MIYABI!” Sumire and Shiroitora yelled simultaneously.
Chikage’s face remained impassive. “He’ll probably not want to get involved in his own clan’s affairs, seeing that he disappeared from there first.”
The other clan heads nodded in agreement. They all knew about the Ryu’s bigotry against Humans and other Ayakashi clans, as well as Kiryu disappearing from the Mononoke Village years ago.
“Masters, I have returned,” Hikobei called out from the doorway.
“What have you found out?” Kyoga asked.
“Nothing, Masters,” he replied, suddenly sobbing. “It is impossible to break into the Ryu castle through the surrounding waters.”
“It’s fine Hikobei,” Shiroitora said. “Thank you for your hard work.”
The Kappa broke into a huge smile. “For you, Lady Shiroitora, it is nothing.”
“What of the Wani clan’s grounds?” Samon asked.
“Oh!” Hikobei exclaimed. “Yes, that I can venture into. They had some casualties but the Wani clan head is alive and unharmed.”
“You should have said that part first,” Chikage sighed.
“Sorry, Masters,” Hikobei sobbed.
“Shishi?” Kyoga asked, handing her a freshly poured cup of tea.
“Thanks, Kyo,” she murmured. “I knew they were going to fight. I didn’t know it was going to be this soon. Or drastic. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. So what now?”
Before anyone could offer an answer, the ground suddenly shook and debris knocked loose from the ceilings.
“What?” The Ayakashis exclaimed, as they all transformed into their full Ayakashi forms.
Samon immediately went to protect Sumire while the others went outside. None of them needed to tell the other about the strong presence they felt waiting for them.
“Hikobei!” Chikage yelled. “Take Koten back to the Tengu Village!”
“Yes, Master Chikage!” The Kappa replied, before dashing back inside.
“Let me handle him,” Shiroitora said.
“You haven't fully recovered yet, Shishi,” Kyoga frowned.
The ground shook again as a torrent of water blasted its way towards them.
“No!” Shiroitora screamed, using her Wani powers to redirect the water into a snake like coil around her. “It’s me he wants and it’s me he’ll get!”
“Shiroitora wait!!” Yukinojo said. “Let us at least back you up.”
Shiroitora chewed on her bottom lip. She had her pride as a Wani.
“Look,” Miyabi said, in a rare moment of seriousness, “We won’t engage Mizuchi himself, unless he attacks us first. We all have our prides as clan leaders.”
She sighed and slowly nodded, drawing the water she had kept coiling around her closer. “Thanks guys.”
Loud harsh laughter caught their attention.
“Mizuchi,” Shiroitora growled, clenching her fists. Standing in the walkway was a man with long platinum blond hair. Two dragon horns protruded at the top of his head. He wore a black and red yukata. Behind him were a number of Ryu soldiers.
“My blushing bride,” he sneered, his dark eyes narrowing. “You’ve caused quite the embarrassment to me.”
“I am not your bride,” Shiroitora replied. “I am done running and I will fight you.”
“Hmm,” Mizuchi chuckled. “You won’t win. I will cage you and you will sire my children.” He motioned at the troops behind him. “Destroy the other clan heads. The Ryu will rule the Mononoke Village!”
The clan leaders spread out across the shrine grounds.
Shiroitora stood her ground, as the coils of water formed a shield around her. “I’m pretty sure you’re doing this on your own, Mizuchi. Ryusen may despise the other Ayakashis and humans but even he...ugh!”
Mizuchi raised his hand toward her and began to control the water that Shiroitora had harvested from his initial attack. “Ha ha ha ha! Of course! I always get my way. And you have constantly eluded me, but not anymore.”
“Bite me,” Shiroitora growled, her golden eyes glimmering as she began a dangerous game of tug of war with Mizuchi. “I belong to no one.”

Enchanted Waters, chapter 1
MC: Sumire Tsukishiro (x Samon) OC: Shiroitora (OC Clan: Wani Ayakashi: sub clan of Ryu), Mizuchi EITM: Kyoga, Samon, Shinra, Miyabi, Yukinojo, Chikage, Koten, Kiryu, Ryusen, Hikobei
A/N: This is an AU version of my Toriko OC, Shiroitora, who specializes in Deep Sea hunting. Here she is a more aquatic Ryu Ayakashi, part of a sub clan I named Wani. I had started developing this fanfic storyline when the Love Nest For Two sequel started being released. While I knew Kiryu was a Ryu Ayakashi, the part where Ryus can manipulate water wasn’t known at the time, which makes my use of Shiroitora as an Ayakashi even more awkwardly appropriate. I’m pretty much joyriding off the chaos of the Onmyoji with my own created Ryu-clan infighting drama thing. I had written a “bridge” type drabble last year, where the EITM setup was part of Shiroitora’s dream. It sets up her confusion as to what’s happening and ends with a picture into her normal life as a Gourmet Hunter in Toriko.
One morning Samon asked Shinra, Kyoga, and Yukinojo to pick up some groceries, which the three willingly obliged, knowing that Samon gave them extra money to buy some things for themselves.
“Been looking forward to buying some more Mitarashi Dango,” Shinra grinned.
“You and your Dango obsession,” Kyoga chuckled.
“Now now,” Yukinojo smiled. “I’m hoping the market has that brand of green tea ice cream I like.”
Turning the corner, Shinra collided into another person. "I'm so sorry!" he exclaimed.
"No, I'm sorry," a woman quickly replied, looking up from her oversized hoodie. "I... I wasn't paying atten..." She stopped, gasping at the sight of the three.
"Shiroitora?" Yukinojo asked.
"Yuki... !! AH...sorry, you must be mistaking me for someone else!! Please... excuse me." She bowed before quickly heading off in a different direction.
The clan heads looked at each other, shocked and bewildered.
"That was Shishi," Kyoga muttered. His sense of smell and sensory memory identified her immediately.
Yukinojo nodded. "I can see the water vapor she leaves behind. Shiroitora’s never been able to mask that.”
"But why would she pretend to not know us?" Shinra asked.
"I'm going after her," Kyoga said.
Yukinojo nodded. "Go, we'll be right behind you."
The Okami clan head changed to his Ayakashi form as he used his enhanced sense of smell and speed to overtake the woman they encountered, stopping in front of her as Yukinojo and Shinra appeared behind, preventing her from turning around and fleeing.
She tried to go around Kyoga, only to have him catch her in a bear hug. "Shishi, what's wrong?" Kyoga asked quietly.
“Kyo let me go,” Shiroitora said, weakly struggling to free herself from Kyoga’s bear hug.
“Shishi, no,” Kyoga sighed. “You’ve always managed to break free from any of my hugs, but you’re not able to even break free of this.”
“I can’t let you guys be involved,” Shiroitora muttered, ignoring Kyoga. “I need to get away.”
“Who are you running from?” Yukinojo asked, as he and Shinra kept their distance from her.
“Mizuchi.”
The Ayakashi clan heads’ eyes widened.
Kyoga exchanged glances with Yukinojo and Shinra. “Let’s get her back to the shrine.”
“No! I can’t get you guys involved!”
Kyoga ignored her protests, scooped her up in his arms and nodded to the others. A second later, they were heading inside the shrine.
Samon came out from the kitchen to greet the others and gasped when he saw Shiroitora in Kyoga’s arms. “What happened to her?” he asked, motioning to Kyoga to follow him to one of the unused bedrooms.
“We bumped into her on the way to the market,” Kyoga explained. “She’s been on the run for who knows how long. She’s weakened.”
“Kyo,” Shiroitora muttered sulkily. “I can talk for myself.”
“Save your strength, Shishi,” Kyoga frowned. “I’m worried about you.”
“We’re worried about you,” Yukinojo corrected, as he and Shinra followed behind, keeping their distance. They both knew that Shiroitora would be susceptible to both ice and electricity. In her weakened state, even more so.
“Oho, what is this?” Miaybi asked, emerging out of his room. His usual arrogant demeanor instantly changed when he saw who their guest was. “Shiroitora?”
Yukinojo nodded. “We’ll explain after we get her rehydrated.”
“Chikage would be in the yard, right?” Shinra asked.
“Yeah,” Miyabi answered. “Giving Koten his lessons.”
“Alright,” the Oni nodded. “I’ll let him know.”
Meanwhile, Samon had helped Kyoga get Shiroitora onto the bed. The latter was still insistent on not wanting to involve the clan leaders.
“Shiroitora,” Yukinojo frowned, his voice falling into a deep monotone. “You need to rest and let us help you. Let us decide if we want to be involved or not after you tell us everything. The other Ayakashis felt the temperature in the room drop. While Shiroitora wasn’t as affected by the cold, the Yukibito’s powers could freeze her solid in an eyeblink.
“Ahhh, Yuki, I’m sorry!!!!,” Shiroitora exclaimed, weakly flailing on the bed.
“Just rest up,” Yukinojo said, smiling. “We’re friends, remember? And friends help each other in time of need.”
Shiroitora sighed in defeat. Even back in their school days, these same guys were the only one who saw through her stubborn independent streak. She had to admit that she was in over her head here.
“Shiroitora here’s some fortified miso soup,” Samon said, setting down a tray with a bowl of soup. “How long have you been out of the water?”
“Samon...” She muttered, hesitant to answer.
“The stubborn one is in trouble I see,” Chikage interrupted from the doorway.
“Chikage,” Shiroitora greeted. “I understand you have a kid now?”
The Tengu clan head nearly fell over when he heard that. “NO! I.. Koten is my disciple. That’s.. That’s all.”
“Master, are you okay?” Koten asked as the little tengu ran into the room. “Oh, Master Samon, Master Yukinojo, Master Kyoga.” he greeted before looking at Shiroitora. “Hello.”
Shiroitora smiled. “I’m Shiroitora from the Wani Clan.”
“Hello Lady Shi..shi...,” Koten stammered, attempting to say her name.”
Kyoga chuckled. “I think it’s okay if you call her Shishi like I do, Koten.”
“Kyo!,” Shiroitora exclaimed. “Ah.. well, it’s okay Koten, I know my name’s rather hard to say.”
“Samon,” Yukinojo said quietly. “It’s almost time to pick up Sumire from work.”
“Oh, you’re right,” the Zashiki-Warashi nodded. “Kyoga, I’m leaving Shiroitora in your care until I come back.”
“Hmm?” Shiroitora asked as she sipped her soup.
“Oh,” Yukinojo turned to her. “This shrine belongs to the human with the once in a thousand year blood. Sumire chose Samon, which was the most logical choice as he watched over her for several years prior to her awakening. The rest of us knew we didn’t have a chance, but we also knew that Zashiki-Warashis are not the strongest fighters of the Ayakashis. As I said before, Shiroitora, we’re all friends and we chose to stay here in the human world to help Samon keep Sumire safe instead of going back to the Mononoke Village and just be clan leaders.”
“You should rest up, Shishi,” Kyoga said, motioning for the others to leave. “We’ll wake you later so you can fill us in on what’s going on.” He reached over and ruffled her hair before also leaving the room.
“Still treating me like a kid,” she sighed, smiling despite herself. She finished her soup and laid down on the bed, feeling the exhaustion crashing down on her, falling asleep within seconds.
