At least polytheism makes sense in the way that a god would have a limited number of ecosystems to manage among other gods which better reflects a harmonious society among working humans.
Monotheism has always sounded more ridiculous in the way "one god created all, no further questions please". This reflects a society under the control of a tyrant who silences all opposition.
A polytheist is more likely to welcome an outsider.
A monotheist is more likely to kill an outsider.
It also seems that monotheism has a corrupting characteristic to it that polytheism is susceptible to. It's as if the monotheistic god-head is an imposter who killed all the other gods and took credit for their work in balancing the universe and invented the great lie of all lies; that's how those religions sound to me.
