🔥 Least favorite / most frustrating quest in an Elderscrolls game,
Send me a “ 🔥 “ for an unpopular(??) opinion.
Ugh. Just…I was going to think about this for a moment but literally the first thing that popped into my head was the quest in windhelm, Blood On The Ice in Skyrim.
Fuck that quest. I love it, honestly; I mean, a murder mystery? How awesome and refreshingly mundane in a world of dragons, giants and elves. I love those quests, the ones that are mundane but still thrilling and in depth. They add character to the world and force you to act in a manner other than hacking and slashing your way through most problems(which most things in TES can be solved through).
But also??? That quEST IS JUST SO DAMN GLITCHY. I waited exactly 24 hours like the quest wanted and by the time I came back to catch the killer it glitches so the dude was immortal, couldn’t be killed, and if I tried to catch him he’d shout for the guards, making ME get arrested instead INSIDE OF HIS HOUSE, IN THE ROOM WHERE THERES FUCKING CORPSES AND PROPOGANDA AND EVIDENCE THAT HE DID IT.
In a more general light, I find many of the skyrim quests rather frustrating simply for their lack of depth. I mean, don’t get me wrong; I adore Skye in, the gameplay is thrilling, the combat immersive, and the sheer aesthetics thrilling.
But it’s lacking in proper plot and challenge, there’s little if any replay value after finishing most of the main quests. I mean, of course there’s variety and you can create lives and patterns and personalities for your characters but there’s so little in the way of dialogue and actual interaction with characters that a lot of the world feels…vibrant but hollow? If that makes sense.
I love skyrim, definitely my favorite in terms of aesthetic value and enjoyability. Plot wise, Morrowind will always be my fave; I rebought it like…..a year and a half ago, and I STILL have yet to finish the main questline(granted, for the first few weeks I got sidetracked binging the bloodmoon campaign which, fyi, is NOT a forgiving experience if you’re only level four.)
….I really got off kilter with this one and let my mind go where it will oops. But, yeah. Specifically, most frustrating quest is Blood On the Ice simply because of how time sensitive and buggy it is. Generally, most of the plotlines of base-game Skyrim annoy me, but thank god for dawnguard and Dragonborn.
