“Having done the first movie, that was the Thanos that I got to know very well,” Josh Brolin says. “And then once we got into the second movie, you basically have three versions of Thanos. You have what we experienced in the first movie, and then you have two extremes in the second film. He still has -even more than the first movie- an acute, youthful rage to him that motivates him. It’s very specific, and it’s very refined -but raw. That’s what it feels like. It feels very raw. Whereas the other side of Thanos is also raw, but in completion.”

The Thanos of 2014 is a vengeful warrior and bears little resemblance to the reflective tactician we meet in Avengers: Infinity War. “The goal for this was to create a more menacing armor,” Concept Artist Jerad Marantz says. “It still borrows from the shapes established from the Guardians of the Galaxy armor, but I was able to also utilize an earlier horn idea just by taking the armor in the helmet and bending it up. It was definitely more of a hands-on warlord design. And then I’d come up with the weapon. [Concept Artist] John Staub, a very talented guy, had done an image of Philosopher Thanos holding something that looked likea a meat cleaver. It was small, but I remember looking at that and thinking that it was brilliant, and for this regal warlord I wanted to do something similar. Essentially, I made the blades longer, and I duplicated them. It just amplified his bruality.”

I’ve only been drawing for about a year now and I’ve always been scared to post my art online but I figured that this piece came out well enough for me to post it. It’s one of the few times I’ve ever shared art online so it’s super scary and super exciting at the same time! c:
