Here is the requested hungergames!au with Jalica.
Jago lives in District 8*
He is the son of two former winners of the hunger games and his family is one of the richest and most influential in his district.
In his family’s opinion it´s a great honor to participate in the hunger games and they train Jago to win them, although District 8 isn’t a Career District.
In fact Jago doesn’t want to be a tribute. He is too afraid of dying and, even worse, of killing innocent children.
When he was 15, they force him to volunteer.
He doesn´t know the girl who is reaped with him, but he isn’t sad about it. It’s better not to know, because in the end only one can win.
First he is insecure, but then he gets more confident. He is strong, in good physical condition and knows a lot about weapons. He has a great chance to survive.
While training, Jago impresses the Career Tributes a lot with his skills and he decides to take their offer to ally with them.
He manages to survive the blood bath and stays with the Careers, but leaves them soon, because he knows that he would be the first to be killed by them when the most non-Careers are dead. Before he leaves, he steals food and weapons.
Jago uses the stolen knives in order to hunt animals and to kill other tributes.
Soon he is one of the two last living tributes.
He kills his final opponent and wins the hunger games, but due to the other tributes’ stab with a knife, Jago remains a scar in his face.
Everyone in his district, in particular his family, is proud and he is admired by most of the girls, but not by the girl he is crushing on.
Her name is Alicia and she works in the large factory.
She is absolutely against the hunger games and hates the capitol.
Jago is afraid of talking to her, because he knows about her attitude about the hunger games and fears that she doesn’t want to spend time with a volunteer.
During the last years, he often has nightmares. He has guilty conscience and must always think about the family’s whose children he killed.
Four years passes and he becomes a mentor when he is 19.
He is tensed, because he’s never mentored someone before and doesn’t want a tribute coached by him to die.
At the same time, Alicia is afraid. She has many entries in the reaping, because she received some Tesserae and also it’s the last year in which she is eligible.
At the day of the reaping Alicia is chosen as the female tribute.
She is shocked, because she knows that she has no chance to win.
Jago is too. He still hasn’t spoken to her and now she’ll go to participate in the hunger games, where Alicia will most likely die.
After saying her final goodbye, Alicia drives in train to the capitol.
There she meets her mentor Jago and recognizes him as the boy, who won four years ago.
He explains her that he’ll be only her mentor. The male tribute has another own.
Jago sees how frightened Alicia is and tries to encourage her and to comfort her.
Alicia is surprised that Jago is actually kind of nice. She always thought that someone who volunteers for killing innocent humans to entertain the privileged capitol must be a monster.
Also Jago doesn’t seem like he wanted to participate in the hunger games and Alicia wonders why he did anyway.
They talk a lot and soon the subject turns from the Hunger Games to more personally thinks, like their hobbies and families. They both know that they should make up a strategy or talk about important stuff, but they have too much fun doing not.
Alicia is happy about Jago’s company and not only, because he distracts her from thinking about her fate, but also because she thinks he’s somehow… cute.
The train finally arrives at the capitol and Alicia was impressed. Everything is different than in District 8, more luxurious, colorful and decorated. Okay, maybe it’s too extravagant sometimes, especially the clothes the people are wearing.
But deep in her, she feels angry. How could the citizens of capitol live like this while in many of the Districts people struggle to survive in horrible condition? Even in District 8 it’s often very hard and Alicia can only assume how it is in the Districts 9, 10, 11 and 12.
Jago watches her intensely while she is thinking that. After this train drive, he wishes even more that he would have talked to his crush earlier.
He spends as many time as possible with Alicia and he is eager to do everything possible to make her win.
He organizes the best trainers and stylist for her. (He can, because his family’s influences stretches until the capitol.)
The time before the start of the games passes by rapidly.
He is very proud of her, because with his advices she made her way throw the Chariot Rides, the private training season and the interview a lot better than he thought she would.
The last day before the Hunger Games actually start, Jago and Alicia are sitting in her room and discuss the strategy again:
Alicia should try to run away immediately to avoid the bloodbath, because using weapons doesn`t count to her strengths. She should use her passive surviving skills to stay alive while she is avoiding other tributes and waiting for them to kill each other. This is also the only possible tactic, because Alicia refuses to kill anyone.
Suddenly she begins to panic and to cry. Jago embraces her and whispers calmly encouraging things in her ear until she calms down again.
This moment she realizes that she has fallen for him and she asks if it would be wrong to kiss him.
Instead of answering, he kisses her.
The next day the tributes enter the arena, which is some mountain landscape with lots of caves and trees – a perfect place to hide.
Alicia is able to survive the bloodbath and to find a small cave to hide.
Jago organizes a lot of sponsors. (Again with help of his family’s influences.)
With every gift, he sends Alicia a sweet message in order to make her feel better and to encourage her. Alicia reads all of them multiply times.
She manages to gather food and to avoid other players.
Finally she wins, because the two last remaining opponents both die while fighting each other.
When Jago and Alicia meet again, they clasp in each other’s arms and kiss.
After the Victory Tour, Alicia moves to Jago in Victor’s Village.
*His hometown Juliaca is also called the Sock City" or "Knitting City" because was a major center of sock, sweater, and handicraft production, so I think District 8 fits.
