Hey #Perth, give a warm welcome to our newest Ambassador & EmCee for the EndoMarch High Tea, @abcperth ‘s @steenslaytron 💛 #ChristineLayton is a wife, mother, broadcaster and ‘#endowarrior.’ Her first encounter with a microphone was co-hosting Camboon Primary School’s Year 1 assembly dressed as her idol, Donatello from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. After a short stint studying jazz clarinet at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, she went on to pursue radio as a traffic reporter in Perth and Melbourne before ‘learning the tools’ as 98five’s Drive announcer. Wooed by the beauty and history of WA’s oldest port, Christine moved to ABC Albany where she presented regional Breakfast and Mornings, statewide Afternoons and Drive whilst also producing a number of national programs. A keen lindy hop dancer and teacher, she recently returned to Perth with her husband to give birth to daughter Bonnie, currently her #1 listener. Christine now hosts ABC Perth’s Saturday Breakfast program. After a 20-year struggle with pelvic pain and dyspareunia, she was recently diagnosed with deep infiltrating endometriosis. Shannon Reid Associate Professor, Western Sydney University, School of Medicine, Liverpool Hospital BSc, MBBS (Hons), PhD (Medicine), DDU FRANZCOG, FRCSC Shannon Reid is a Gynaecologist, Advanced Laparoscopic Surgeon, and Gynaecological Ultrasound Specialist, with a special interest in the diagnosis and management of endometriosis. During her specialist training, she completed Fellowships in both Canada and Australia, which focused on the management of Pelvic Pain, Endometriosis and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery. She completed a PhD in the use of ultrasound for the pre-operative diagnosis of complex pelvic disease, including deep endometriosis. She is currently an Associate Professor at Western Sydney University, and is actively involved in teaching and research at Liverpool Hospital. .
