So uh, if by any chance a microbiologist stumbles upon this and has a protocol for boiling environmental samples to induce sporulation, I would cry tears of relief

Y’all seemed to enjoy the last germ, so here’s another! Based on BLAST DNA sequencing and MALDI-TOF MS, these guys are Bacillus atrophaeus! Here’s a Gram stain and an endospore stain. The second photo has a few endospores even though these guys were pulled from ordinary TSA media.

I only had a chance to use a lower quality microscope, but so far after 50 hours, it looks as though I have no sporulation. Checking again today on the good scope.
