please reblog for reach! I definitely need this poll to escape my ring of mutuals + demographic cohort
based on common definitions I can find, a garment is "a piece of clothing" (Cambridge) or "a single article of clothing" (Merriam-Webster).
as far as I can tell shoes are taxonomically clothing but the entire clade of footwear is also treated as distinct "due to their specific function and unique role in fashion".
so I present this question to the poll of public opinion:
is a shoe a garment?
yes
no
feel free to explain your rationale in the notes, and please reblog for sample size!

Do cat's-ear (Hypochaeris radicata) wishes count? Is it the wish that makes the stems and leaves edible, or is the wish the fruit that protects the fluffy seeds until they're ready to be spread by wind or children's breaths?
