ABOUT KOAN SOUND
"Comprised of 19-year-olds Will Weeks and Jim Bastow, KOAN Sound has forged their own unique sound in the crowded field of today’s electronic music world. By consciously moving away from solely relying on the 140 bpm dubstep format and delving into a wider array of electronic genres, namely funky glitch hop as well as 80’s style synth and boogie, the twosome has garnered attention from major critics and artists alike, including Aphex Twin, who has played the duo’s music in his live set."
Newest cover of Spin Magazine- featuring Azealia Banks.
I know this has been floating around for a few weeks but I would feel guilty not putting it on blast for everyone. The XX released their newest single entitled "Angels" on July 16th, which provides a solid backdrop for what to expect from Coexist in September.
It's nice to hear their progressive, yet consistent style of music doesn't stray too far from the lucid theme of their self-titled LP from 2009.
I love what the Internet churns out this time of year. It's always the perfect single to compliment the end of the short, cold, days of the winter season... or to bob your head to with the windows down on the way to SXSW. Santigold's new single "Disparate Youth" lives up to her reputation as she delivers a slightly drums and bass/slightly reggae-inspired, hip shaker. YES THAT SENTENCE WAS ALMOST ENTIRELY ADJECTIVES. I called reggae to be a huge mainstream stimulator this year... we'll see if others prove me right.
Check out Jack White's new video for "Love Interruption."
Absolutely INCREDIBLE. I don't even know where this guy came from (not literally... I mean in the cyber universe) BUT after watching this beautifully shot music video from French musician D.L.I.D /Dick Laurent Is Dead, I've come to appreciate what it has to offer. Soft, intimate vocals spread over ringing melodies not only make this lyrically unique, BUT it creates a completely different realm where life is dourly beautiful. I'm curious to see how long it will take before his music skyrockets into every Americanized music festival through the next two years.
