To all the chocolate lovers out there struggling to find a bar that's not plastic wrapped but is available across supermarkets, I introduce you to Tony's Chocolonely 🙌 Not only is it delicious chocolate, it's fair trade AND plastic-free. On top of this, Tony's Chocolonely has dreams to end the slavery involved in the cocoa industry, and supporting them supports this dream 🍫
Currently, due to unequal divisions in the cocoa chain, many cocoa farmers live in poverty which leads to child labour and slavery on their farms. Tony's Chocolonely uses 5 sourcing principles to ensure that the farmers they source their cocoa beans from earn a liveable wage, helping to eradicate the necessity for child labour and slavery on their farms. This includes providing their farmers with an additional premium on top of the standard fair trade premium, enabling their farmers to earn a wage that covers the cost of living for their household and their farm running costs. Every farmer gets this premium for at least 5 years so they can make long-term investments and decisions with security. This is just a fraction of what they do though - head to their website to read more! 🚜
Alongside all of this, all their wrapping is recyclable - paper and foil - and 100% plastic-free. Talk about a total guilt-free chocolate bar! Good for your rubbish bins, good for the farmers and good for the ethos of the chocolate industry 🌱
I've yet to find a plastic-free substitute for fruitella or drumstick squashies, so the void in my stomach for them lives on. But it's great to know there's a chocolate that I don't have to worry about what to do with the wrapper once I've demolished it 👍 What are your favourite plastic-free subs for sweet treats?
آلعربية 👇👇👇 Rabih Halabi and Grace Farfour, owners of Grassias Hotel in Halba, owe a total of $7,800 to Ruth and Meseret, the two domestic workers they kept in forced labour. Despite breaking almost every rule in the Ministry of Labour Work Contract, they felt an enormous sense of entitlement. Negotiations to free the two workers took months because Grace and Rabih stopped taking our calls and had kept the two workers undocumented. Grace said she'd done them a favour by giving them a roof over their head instead of throwing them out on the street as other employers had done. Negotiations to obtain at least a partial payment of Ruth and Meseret's salaries have been unsuccessful. With all the misinformation out there please remember that sex trafficking and child sex trafficking are not conspiracy theories. They’re billion dollar businesses. Stop all slavery and sex trafficking. Legalize sex work. Make it safe. Keeping it illegal and unprotected creates this dangerous criminal industry. Raise the age of consent to the voting age so minors can have a say in what adults are allowed to do to them. Let’s be the generation that ends sex trafficking, slavery, and pedophilia. #HumanTrafficking #SexTrafficking #LegalizeSexWork #ProtectSexWorkers #StopPedophilia #EndSlavery #EndHumanTrafficking #PeopleAreNotForSale https://www.instagram.com/p/CDeq4wBFeSGU2CMSvGY-YXEstUQOR-pw8fzrVU0/?igshid=1kft5qhkqjg49
When I first decided to participate in Dressember in November of 2017, it took approximately two minutes before I thought, “How on earth am I going to pull this off in the cold?”
If December in your area gives you all the chills, here is what we say: Your advocacy makes an EVEN bigger statement when you're wearing a dress in the cold weather. It makes a powerful statement that you're willing to risk a bit of comfort to advocate for the millions enslaved around the world.
Find some tips to stay warm from Canadian advocate, Jess Debanne!
The truth hurts. . Luckily, we can easily change, and save mother’s, babies, our arteries, hearts, air, water, and earth. . If in doubt watch @cowspiracy and @wthfilm . . How much longer can we live with ourselves as slave owners? Saying that we are for women’s rights, equality, social justice, environmentalism, but still enslave sentient beings, eat their flesh and forcibly impregnate their little girls, steal their babies and breastmilk, and wear their skin? . How is this very simple truth getting by such intelligent people, especially mothers? . Happiness is reducing the suffering of another. . . . #equality #endslavery #everymothercounts #meatless #endleather #dairyalternatives #happiness #evolution #ahimsa (at Ellensburg, Washington) https://www.instagram.com/p/BnMScOpFdwe/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=11ojuvye4oc4b
