العربية 👇 👇 👇 Nada Sukkar, owner of a curtain shop in Jnah, kept Fatuma working without pay for 4 years. She locked her in and gave her only 2 minute noodles to eat. When Fatuma got sick and Nada realized the treatment would cost her money, she threw her out. Ethiopians found Fatuma under a bridge and took her to hospital where she stayed 15 days. She was able to travel back to Ethiopia in March 2022 but died in a shelter in Addis on 11 May 2022 before being reunited with her family. The starvation, years of non-payment and denial of timely medical treatment almost certainly contributed to Fatuma's death. This is a case of slavery, if not negligent homicide. Nada says Fatuma was a guest, not a worker, and did nothing but eat, drink, and sleep.
