what is grounding? - basic.
I have been asked to write something about grounding, so naturally I am going to, I was trying to think about how to write this post, and have come to the conclusion it would be either a very, very, very long post or It would be a few smaller posts that are easily digestible. I’m going to go with the latter.
So what is grounding? Grounding put simply is the practice of connecting with the earth, and its natural energy, that’s why it’s sometimes called ‘earthing’. While you’re connecting yourself with the earth you are essentially swapping energy with the earth, releasing excess energy and gaining renewed energy from the earth.
When you’re grounding yourself you are essentially balancing yourself with the earth’s energy. In doing so there are studies to suggest that grounding can enhance your mental and emotional heath.
One way of grounding, and how I started is to visualise yourself as if a tree, stretching your arms and legs out with your feet and palms flat on the ground, feeling the soft earth under you (I often do this on grass). Your roots connecting you down into the earth, visualising the energy, stabilising your breathing (breathe in – hold it – slowly breathe out – repeat) and yourself calming at the same time. This is by no means the only method, there are many, I will do more posts on other methods.
You can use and wear crystals to help with grounding too. Hematite is fantastic for this.
