THE HORROR IN ENFIELD - Enfield, Illinois (1970 population 764) - On the dark night of April 25th, 1973 a “strange creature” was allegedly encountered by the folks living along these railroad tracks. It was described by shocked local witnesses as being a “three-legged mutant monstrosity” with fierce claws and teeth! This bizarre “horror” reportedly attacked a local boy, terrorized neighborhood pets, and was even fired upon by one frightened homeowner as it tried to claw it’s way into a home! Bizarre “clawed” footprints were found by investigators and police along these rail lines - the likes of which had not been seen. Echoes of horrific screams, presumably from the mutant beast, pierced the night air and were heard by many frightened people throughout the darkened town. Searches for the monster lasted days and involved so many people (running around with guns at night), that they were soon curtailed for public safety. What became of the enigmatic cryptid is not known - it disappeared in the following days and has not been seen since. And, to this day, no one has yet have solved the mystery of the creature that came to be known as the Enfield Horror. We can only guess and wonder.
