Dell lays against his bed, staring up at that poster again. He's barely able to keep his eyes open, but he's barely able to go to sleep at the same time. God, he can't get enough of it. Enough of looking at that poster. He just... wants that to happen. For real. Instead of printed out on a stupid piece of paper... He sighs, turning on his side. He glances at the clock.
2:25am
Dell groans, turning to the other side. He can practically feel the eyebags growing on his face as he sighs yet again. He buries his face into his pillow, closing his eyes. He doesn't hear anything for awhile, maybe the occasional car passing by, or the sound of the winter breeze brushing past a few trees, but nothing unusual.
He feels... empty. Alone. Cold. His bed feels bigger than it actually is. He feels like sinking into the mattress, floating in the abyss of his feelings, where everything but him is color. He'll be gray. A blank look in his eye as he just let whatever happen, happen. He didn't care if he got hurt. He didn't care if he was loved. He didn't care if he was used. He didn't care if he was hated. He just didn't care. This was normal for his nightly routine. Feeling nothing in his dreams. He didn't understand why he still dreamt though. Tonight was... a bit different however, for he felt a hand on his back. He didn't jolt though. He felt nothing as it pushed him upwards. No reaction. No pushing against it. No wondering where it was taking him. It was until he was pressed against something warm that he felt the slightest sliver of emotion...
He only glanced up, and all emotion flowed from the world and into him in mere seconds.
Dell was pressed against Jane's chest. Against Jane's body. Jane's hand was on his back. Jane's hand was pushing him. And he was looking at Jane's face.
He didn't know what to feel. With all these emotions inside him, he felt like bursting right then and there, covering the world with color once again. He glanced into Jane's eyes, wondering what was going on behind those walls of blue. It had to be nothing. This was nothing but a dream. But oh did Dell wish that this was something more. Something actually happening. That he was actually pressed to Jane, slowly moving up his body, his face millimeters from Jane's as he closed his eyes...
Jane was face down in his bed, snoring incredibly loudly, gripping tightly onto a pillow. He occasionally bit down onto it, snorting air from his nose against it acting as if he was trying to kill it, gripping onto it tightly and tugging. Soon enough, he lets go, relaxing again, before starting to attack it yet again. He relaxes again. Then, feels his eyes twitching open as he turns over and sits up, his mouth slightly moist from biting into his pillow. He wipes it off as he looks at the clock.
2:35am
He stretches his back a little, before laying back in his bed, staring at the ceiling. He was contemplating what to do. About what? Well, about Dell. He thought that giving him that rock in the furnace was plenty to tell Dell what he wanted! But, apparently not, which was confirmed when one of his raccoon friends brought him a rock that looked exactly like the one he tried to give Dell from the trash... Whatever, it wasn't like the rock was all that special anyways. It just wasn't shiny enough! Or was it not big enough? Forget rocks, his other tactic didn't work either. Going to fight naked covered in honey with the costumers should have definitely done something to Dell! Jane noticed the blood dripping down his nose that day, but that was it! Just blood! He had to do something better. He just had to!
Jane sat up again, getting off his bed and going to his apartments window. He opened it and felt the cold of the outside, staring up into the stars. What to do next. He could try and leave better rocks in Dell's locker. He could try and fight things naked and covered in honey more. Maybe he could even give one of his raccoons to Dell... Oh well.
The next day, at work, Dell sighed, putting a hat on. He didn't want to bring up what happened last night to anyone. Not even himself. He went to his locker, which he was given due to the fact he practically only works there as a private handyman, and put his bag and keys inside. He closed the door and slumped his head against it, groaning. "Lord almighty... what am I gonna do?..." -🧰 "You are going to WORK! That is what you are going to do! And you will do an amazing job at it as usual!" -🪖
Oh god, not him.
Jane was eccentric today. He knew EXACTLY what to do to get his message across to Dell. He had gone out with his raccoons and found the best rock there is. The most shiny and smooth and large rock ever. He had also stored honey jars in his locker and was prepared to fight a bear later that day after the store closed. He was going to put on the most spectacular fight and... confession? It wasn't totally a confession, because confessions are for hippies. It was just going to be spectacular, Jane knew. He just knew Dell would understand what he was trying to tell him.
Dell wanted to say something, but he couldn't. God, the man he fantasized about last night was standing right there in front of him, and he couldn't even manage a simple hello? Yet again, Dell was never completely good with words, sometimes stumbling over them, or unable to think of the next word that came after what he was trying to explain. It was mostly because he was used to having to dumb down his words for other people to understand. He's been getting better about it though. Maybe it was just affecting him again. Yeah, that was it.
He was about to say something, until a rock was shoved into his face. It was rounded, smooth, and definitely shiny, as if a laminated rock. Maybe it was polished and then thrown out. Whatever the reason, it was actually a very pretty rock. "This fer me?..." -(🧰) Dell asked quietly, reaching for the rock. "Affirmative! Me and my lieutenants went out and found the absolute best rock for the best working man here!" -(🪖) Jane beamed.
Oh. Well this was... oddly sweet.
"Uh... thanks, Jane..." -(🧰) Dell said, taking the rock and putting it into his locker. He was very tempted to kiss it, but he would save that for later.
"And-!" -(🪖) Jane continued. "You should stay here! After work! Maybe outside by the dumpsters!" He said, feeling his cheeks heat up with, fuck, a blush. Men don't blush, they just do want they want to and don't get embarrassed! Jane swore that! Although, he's sworn a lot of things... and those things are bound to be true! Someday.
"By the dumpster... alright, I'll see ya there, then.." -(🧰) Dell nodded, awkwardly leaving Jane behind as he started to walk around to begin his job. Jesus Christ, if this day got any worse...
