i was cooking last night and almost chopped my thumb but was saved by my nail, which i did cut but not quite bad enough for it to come off/hit my flesh, so i covered that nail in three thick coats of nail polish and it is now temporarily sealed!

anyways enough of that cheesy blather I need to talk about my program change. Which science major do I go for.

louis choi bleaches his hair after school with drugstore dye, dishwashing gloves, and a death wish. the death wish is courtesy of his parents, who come home to a brassy-haired lou and lecture him for the whole night. oh my god, you look terrible. (thanks, mom!) that stuff’s full of dangerous chemicals and you did it in our bathroom? (sorry, dad!) it’s going to make you go bald early (that’s sort of true) it’s probably soaking in your scalp and killing all your brain cells (that doesn’t sound right) where’s the rest of the dye, we’re throwing it out, you’re never doing this again (that’s definitely not true because i’m bleaching it again tomorrow!) the lecture goes on through dinner and only stops when lou announces he’s going to his room to do homework. homework time is sacred. sadly, while his parents are inside the house, it’s the most privacy he gets. — fishstick69 ( — Today at 5:25 PM ) anyone up for scrimms on fri evening? found an available team n theyre like masters average i can fill btw iheartcatboys ( — Today at 5:26 PM ) Sorry bro i got plans server’s resident catboy ( — Today at 5:26 PM ) yep same here GummyWorm ( — Today at 5:28 PM ) Rip me too fishstick69 ( — Today at 5:29 PM ) LAME what are u all even doing if u say hw i’ll kill u server’s resident catboy ( — Today at 5:30 PM ) veronica nguyen’s birthday party i barely know her tho im just going bc free bowling fishstick69 ( — Today at 5:30 PM ) wait what like all of u?? Pretty sure she won’t mind fishstick69 ( — Today at 5:35 PM ) uhh no it’s fine i’ll just solo queue iheartcatboys ( — Today at 5:35 PM ) bro… GummyWorm ( — Today at 5:36 PM ) Bro…… — louis choi used to go to computer club every day. ever since he built his pc, though, he has no reason to anymore. so his only real outlet for socialization has disappeared, and he’s begun to come home every day directly after school, only sometimes stopping at stores to buy snacks that his parents would not approve of. he only realizes how friendless it’s made him after he plays competitive games by himself on a friday night. and honestly? it normally wouldn’t phase him, because this night is no different than a lot of other nights, but sometimes he’ll see himself reflected on his dusty pc screen and feel a weird lurch in his stomach that he can’t identify, to which he says: maybe it’s just my mulan moment, and i’m fighting the masculine urge to cut off all my hair and join the army. when his parents come home from work, they reheat yesterday’s bok choy and beef stew. lou takes a bowl up to his room, and pretends to start working on a biology lab due two weeks ago. it’ll pay off, he tells himself, taking off his headset to pin up his overgrown yellow bangs. it’s gotta pay off. — (it pays off.) — To Mr. Louis Choi, Congratulations! You have been selected to move forward in the player screening process for [REDACTED]. We’ve reviewed your vods and noticed the hard work you put into maintaining your spot on the leaderboard, and are interested in taking your potential to the next level. If you share similar aspirations, please review the attached PDF as soon as possible. We look forward to hearing from you. — his parents don’t approve, unsurprisingly. first, they don’t really get what louis is trying to do (do you guys not know faker? he’s literally on the same field as bong joon-ho and bts!) but when he explains it clearly enough he can see the expression on his mom’s face slowly changing. lou doesn’t know what his dad’s face looks like because he’s too afraid to check. his dad says, “this can’t last forever, eunpyo” (oh god, not the korean name), “are you really going to play games your entire life?” (if i can help it, yeah) “that’s not a useful skill” (yeah, like accounting is any more useful than what i’m doing. i don’t even know what they do and yet you’re sitting on top of a cushy retirement fund, so it’s all subjective, isn’t it?) his mom only says, “will you make money?” (yes yes yes) which gives him the tentative confidence to touch on his next talking point - and it may or may not be the equivalent of setting off a nuclear bomb in the choi household. “so,” says lou, fixing his gaze on the matriarch of the family. “since i’m already gonna have a paying job that’s gonna take up a lot of my time, i think… i shouldn’t have to go to colle-” — (BAD IDEA BAD IDEA BAD IDEA BAD IDEA.) — fishstick (No more 69 Bc Im Pro Now) ( — Today at 4:23 AM ) just landed in seoul [IMG_23835] got a selfie with bts catboy enthusiast ( — Today at 4:28 AM ) omg jimin he looks so flat and lifeless what did you do to him lou fishstick (No more 69 Bc Im Pro Now) ( — Today at 4:29 AM ) idk he was just standing outside of the airport innisfree i feel even more flat and lifeless thinking about how im forced to do higher education born to game forced to school GummyWorm ( — Today at 4:30 AM ) It’s gonna be fine just don’t take hard classes Make some friends and practice your Korean Aren’t your teammates almost all korean? fishstick (No more 69 Bc Im Pro Now) ( — Today at 4:30 AM ) yeah 내 거시기를 빨다 GummyWorm ( — Today at 4:30 AM ) Cant when you’re in a different country :/ — hansung’s going to be okay. it’s going to be fine. he’s got his computers with him and his contract in an e-sports organization and he’s away from his parents (all major dubs) — yet there’s still a lurch in his stomach every time he looks in the dusty mirror in his new room, one that lingers and squirms. it’s not because of his roots showing, because he just redyed them, and… well, lou has a suspicion that it’s something much more pathetic than that, heaving a sigh as he spread-eagles on his new bed. (maybe… maybe it really is because i’m lonely.)

rumour: bak moonsoo had his arm broken by nam hwa.
technically true. It was an accident, really — the pair was eight years old and had a habit of roughhousing together any moment they could. hwa was just a little stronger, and a little too determined that day; they hadn’t meant to hurt him. of course, the boy went around telling everyone that the little girl attacked him, that she was some wild animal who couldn’t be trusted. the rumour stuck, and they didn’t make many friends after that.
rumour: nam hwa sleeps with teachers
false. they’re not even sure who started this rumour, but they know it made the rounds in high school. it didn’t help that while she slept through classes and still somehow managed to ace her exams. everyone just kind of … assumed the rest. the truth couldn’t be further than that — she often stayed up late studying under her covers, trying her best not to wake up two of her siblings that she shared a room with.
rumour: kim sungmin is actually nam hwa's son.
absolutely false, but no one seems to believe her on that one. after high school, hwa sort of just … disappeared, according to their classmates. in reality, she was just working three jobs to try to help keep her family afloat. the timing was unfortunate, as her youngest sibling was born during that period and, the first time she posted a picture of herself with the little boy, the rumour couldn’t spread fast enough.
rumour: nam hwa is a hell of a bass player
true, and their bandmates would like to have a word with you if you think otherwise. her older brother got her a bass for her fifteenth birthday, and she hasn’t put it down since. the band was formed when she was seventeen and have been together ever since. they play whenever and wherever they can, refusing to let go of their dream to tour all over the world.
rumour: there's actually ten people living in hwa's apartment
who are you, their landlord? no, her name and her name only is on the lease, so no one else lives there. just because their four younger siblings occasionally stay overnight, and their bandmates often uses their space as a place to crash ( “hwa, this is so much nicer than my place, what the hell” ) doesn’t mean ten people live in her apartment. there’s just … often ten people in her apartment.
rumour: nam hwa is a bitch
i mean, it depends who you ask, doesn’t it?

the neighbors called him the bastard child. the children called him the germ.
Kang Hyuk would sometimes wear the same clothing for three days in a row since his mother couldn't afford to wash his clothes and instead spent the money to put food on the table. She always remarked that we'd rather be dirty than hungry. Kang Hyuk, for one, took the advise to heart.
the teachers called him the dark horse.
Despite the fact that the kids associated his tanned complexion with being the laughing stock, Kang Hyuk always managed to get excellent grades. He was a brilliant student who contributed immensely to ensure the highest Grades in his class. But, as long as his family lack sufficient fortune, being educated was not enough to get him acknowledged. Anyone would make fun of his worn-out shirt with huge sleeves pulled up to his elbow if they were in his company.
his mother called him the treasure.
Growing up without a father, Kang Hyuk's mother sat him down two days after his 19th birthday and stated him he was now the family's leader. Despite the fact that he didn't have his father's surname, the lady of the house hoped that the son would grow up to be more successful than his father, who fled after learning that his mistress was three months pregnant and abandoned her in the dirt. Kang Hyuk would someday hunt him down and execute his own vengeance, taking everything he deserved in the first place.
his father called him stranger.
That was him, his mother claimed, pointing to a middle-aged gentleman who was an exact replica of him on screen. He was giving a lecture at Hansung University as a respected alumni who had achieved success in his engineering profession and who had contributed to the development of the campus to make it a far better environment for the students. For the first time in his life, Kang Hyuk felt like his life had purpose. He could accomplish better things if he was ready to forego a scholarship offer from one of the top three national colleges; in In this case, it was to get a better understanding of his father's world.
He aimed to be the best until his name reached the man's ears, allowing Kang Hyuk to design a new strategy to destroy his own father.

2016/06/18 it is done.
2016/06/18 i messaged my brother about it, my mom is covering the flight, i can stay with her
2016/06/18 i’m moving to seoul.
2015/06/18 i’m terrified.
2016/08/23 for everyone who’s texted me and whom i haven’t replied to yet: hi i’m okay! moving went well for what it was
2016/08/23 none of them will see this because none of them follow me on twitter (no one does ) but at least i said it somewhere.
2016/08/23 one day i will actually message them back. when anxiety and jetlag aren’t punching me like it’s a national sport or something.
2016/08/23 dad is really upset still and now i’m starting to feel bad.
2016/08/23 everything here is so weirdly familiar on the surface but when i look closer i realize that i’m a cali kid cosplaying as a local, which is honestly super disheartening…
2016/08/23 i speak the language and my face fits in but it feels like this is all i have going for me
2016/08/23 i’m going to tell people to call me by my korean name, maybe that’ll help…
2016/08/23 on the upside, did not expect mom to have a girlfriend but she does and the gf’s super sweet
2016/08/23 her name’s sohee and she and mom adopted this yorkie called loey, which means loey is kind of my little sister by association
2016/08/23 i’m not used to being the big sibling send help
2018/03/18 long time no see, twitter void
2018/03/18 guess who is graduating high school
2018/03/18 dad expects me to go back and take over the family business as if “family business” were some sort of big deal
2018/03/18 spoiler, it’s really not and it’s not my fault that i don’t want to grow old and bitter and hate my job (spoiler, i still feel super guilty and bad about it)
2018/03/18 i want to apply for an arts major so badly… but at the same time i JUST got on better terms with dad again…
2018/03/18 will brain on it and call my brother because as the disowned son he is under no obligation to give me dad-friendly answers…
2021/12/29 wow i really am bad at this twitter thing, huh
2021/12/29 mum’s therapist suggested i get evaluated for adhd because she has it (that’s apparently reason she didn’t get custody when she and dad split up, yikes) and it can be hereditary…
2021/12/29 i’m kind of scared. not sure what to make of that.
2021/12/29 plus the timing’s kind of off, my grades have gotten harder and harder to fix over the last three semesters or so and i don’t really want to waste time going to the psychiatrist to get evaluated
2021/12/29 not when i’m hanging on by a thread and everything is kind of shitty and horrible and a lot to deal with.
2021/12/29 maybe this is my sign to change majors instead… let’s see if i’ll grow a spine. one thing that kind of hasn’t changed between 2018 and 2021
2021/12/29 may 2022 be better than this. please. i kind of really need things to go a little better next year.
2021/12/29 twitter void, do your thing (idk what your thing is but i hope you do it)

they're two strikeouts in at the bottom of the ninth, with the hansung whales barely ahead of the competing team. the third batter is up and two strikes in— the last thing any of them wants is to let him get to first base. the pressure in the air is heavy. after what feels like an eternity, the pitcher sends the ball out, flying. in that moment, it's almost as if the ball is moving in slow motion, hitting against the bat with a single noise so clean it rings throughout the stadium. contrary to prior belief, it's not a homerun. and while it slips through the grasp of the pitcher, the short stop is on the move before he can even process the situation properly, as if his feet were moving on their own. it's not a simple catch, but it's somewhere within his reach as he jumps prematurely. it appears he's overestimated the height! the ball is zooming for his face and—!
[cue the record scratch and freeze frame]
"yup, that's me. you're probably wondering how i ended up in this situation. it all started when my mom met my dad, then they fell in love, and had me. hi! i'm kevin, and my life is ~kinda~ crazy."
born and raised in san francisco, usa, kevin seo can't think of a time in which he wasn't living his life to the fullest. a mama's boy through and through, the love he was showered with shown through his positive personality. he didn't think about much besides having a good time and making the best out of what was given to him.
"if i could describe myself in a word, i guess i'd say thankful." kevin seo was a simple man. he believed in kindness and good vibes. oh, and baseball. growing up, he was a jack of all trades. no matter what activity he was thrust into, kevin exceeded the expectations of all. however, when it came time to focus on one activity in high school, the choice was simple. the sport that stuck with him through it all was baseball, his father's favorite. it was a valuable bond that couldn't compare to the rest and when it came time to focus on one thing, the choice was simple.
but school was tough, and his grades didn't exactly qualify him for the best that the college league had to offer. so kevin decided to look elsewhere, somewhere fun that would accept him.
"look ma, i made it! i'm going back to the motherland!"
hansung university, in south korea.
