POSSESSIVE

A form used to show possession and similar ideas.

POSSESSIVE PRONOUN

My, your, his, her etc are possessive pronouns (they stand for the speaker's, the hearer's, that person etc.).

Mine, yours, his, hers, etc. are also possessive pronouns, for the same reason. My, your etc are used before nouns, so they are not only pronouns, but also determiners.

Example:

“Elvis has left the building” is an idiom that means ‘the show, performance, or event is over.’ It can also be used to express that someone or something has left a place, especially in a dramatic way. For example, “Can you believe it? He hit a game-winning home run! Elvis has left the building!” ⚾️💨🏟 (In that example, “Elvis has left the building” can mean both ‘The game is over!’ and ‘The baseball has left the stadium!’) 👍
