English words I see get misused/misspelled constantly (FOR TEACHING PURPOSES)

ho·mo·phone: two or more words having the same pronunciation but different meanings, origins, or spelling, for example new and knew.
where - a location, “where are my keys?”
wear - like the clothes you are wearing, “i’m wearing a blue dress and earrings,” OR as in worn out/wear and tear, “the baby is wearing himself out with all that crying”
wait - service, “waiting tables” OR time passing, “i’m waiting for my food”
weight - how heavy something is, “this weighs 10 pounds/kilograms”
your - possessive (singular), “i’m your friend”
you’re - you ARE (contraction of 2 words), “you’re going to be late”
their - possessive (usually plural but can be used singular!), “i have two kids, their both boys”
there - where (location), “look over there!” OR even a comfort, “there, there, calm down”
they’re - they ARE (contraction of 2 words), “they’re on the way”
to - motion, “we’re going to school” OR transition, “her smile faded to a frown”
too - also, “i have a dog, too!”
two - number! 2!, “i have two apples”
here - where again!, “come over here”
hear - from your ear!, “can you hear that sound?” “hear me out”
by - another where, “he lives by the movie theater” OR how “by the power vested in me, i pronounce you husband and wife”
buy - purchase, “i’m buying food” OR believe “i don’t buy this, he’s lying”
bye - goodbye!, “bye, see you tomorrow”
bear - an animal, “RUN, IT’S A BEAR!!!” OR endure, “bear with me”
bare - naked, “i’m not wearing a shirt, my chest is bare”
peak - top of a mountain usually/highest point of something, “we’re at the mountain’s peak” OR a similar definition is the best of someone’s life, “he peaked in high school”
peek - to look at something secretly, “don’t peek at my notes”
pique - irritated, “i’m piqued by his attitude” OR attention, “he’s piqued my interest”
rain - as in weather, “it’s raining outside”
rein - straps on a horse, “grab hold of the reins”
reign - like what a kingdom has power over, “the king reigns over all subjects”
phase - an period of time, “it’s just a phase” “phase of the moon”
faze - concern, “that doesn’t faze me” “i’m unfazed by that”
break - a period of time to rest, “i’m taking a break from writing” OR to damage something, “did you break the mirror?”
brake - the pedal on a vehicle that makes it stop, “hit the brakes!”
peace - tranquil, “it’s so peaceful at night”
piece - a part of something, “can i have a piece of pizza?”
