It doesn't get any less painful, Geoff notices.

He's been doing this for years; wake up, do what he's got to do, transform, make sure his legs are covered, go to work.

It's routine at this point.

No one knows his secret. That he was born from an egg, with a snake body. A naga. With a long black tail with green pattens along the back, and a slit and everything. He's non-leathal, but that doesn't matter. He knows how people would react.

So, he uses a little trick his mother taught him to change his tail into legs for the duration for the day. It's tiring and painful, and his legs still retain the scales, but he does it to keep the job he lives and the friends he can't go without. He's learnt to hide it well, with his fake fear of snakes and long pants, even in summer. The winter's harder, he turns sluggish, and always stays close to a heater.

It was all going so well. Until Gavin was a God damned idiot and walked into his room without knocking.
