Introducing Archivist, an AO3 Discord Bot

In February, I created a discord bot that I’ve been testing in a couple of servers, and I feel like it’s ready for release to the public.

Archivist auto-detects works, series, and user links in discord messages and supplies more detailed embeds than the discord default.

Page Design - Fake Linktree

I got frustrated with link services/landing pages for Instagram and Twitter not having features I wanted or making me pay for them, so I decided to design my own landing page and drop it into a custom tumblr page. I thought I’d share it in case anyone else is interested.

note: I recommend that after you create your page you use a link shortnening service (like bit.ly) on the address before adding it to your instagram/twitter/wherever as it gives a more commonly seen appearance for profile links.

Tutorial: AO3 to Discord Using Pipedream

A user of my Discord bot Archivist requested that I add a feature to the bot to track tags on AO3. Although that’s not something easily done with the bot, it IS easy to do using Discord webhooks. So I wrote up a tutorial to walk you through setting up a feed to get new fics from a fandom, character, or ship tag delivered straight to a Discord channel.

Super easy to do and no coding experience required. It’s just copy and paste!

Bot Update

Archivist hit 100 servers today, which means it’s maxed until discord verifies the bot. I started that process 21 Mar 2021, but latest reports are it can take over a month for verification to go through.

I launched a twitter here for anyone interested in adding the bot who is waiting for verification. I’ll announce there once it’s verified, as well as in the support server.
