"Not if they've got any sense..." he said, cocking the weapon and looking down at her. "No one's a better shot than me." He smiled reassuringly and then examined the hardened foam. "You should be feeling an anesthetic settling in... Numbness. Once the pain stops, let me know, and I'll get us home."
As soon as the words left his mouth she wanted to let lose a loud bitter laugh, though she didn't have the strength for that. Seemed like this little curse would follow her to the ends of the earth. "Um... I hate to be the barer of bad news... but it's not going... to settle in." She shifted slightly, sending a jolt of pain up her side. Her eyes screwed shut and her fist clenched at her side. She was still for a moment, trying to relax and not move. A shaky breath left her and she found the energy to speak again. "I'm immune to anesthetics... painkillers... knockout gas... etcetera." She blinked slowly, feeling both weaker and stronger at the same time. Like some weird limbo of sorts. "I'll heal... but the pain isn't going to go away anytime soon... Oh the joys of being me."
