"Not a very good idea? Why?" Q didn't believe in ghosts, but he did believe in malfunctioning old technology that occasionally set rides moving or creaking in the wind.

"Are you scared?" He came to a stop only a few steps inside the theme park and then turned around to smile at Oswald. "I promise we'll be just fine... But I can..." He pulled out a small device and switched it on, the tiny drone whirled happily to life and disappeared above their heads. "There, Gizmo will keep an eye on us. If there's anyone else here, he'll alert us. But you can leave if you really want."

Edward scans the common area trying his best to ignore the noise. Trying to keep himself calm despite the fact that every second within these walls felt like fire under his skin.

His eyes land on Oswald and he tilts his head curiously. The man had just been admitted recently and seemed... fairly lucid in comparison to everyone else he'd been studying. Delusions of grandeur, sure, but who wasn't afflicted by that these days. So what was wrong with him? Why was he here? What did he do? Edward had found his newest puzzle.

Ed climbs up from his seat in the corner of the room, moving instead to sit across from the other. "Who can finish a book without finishing a sentence?"

It wasn't much but Khare was happy. Born in Hull, she lived there for the majority of her years in a small family home, a few years after her older sister and quite some years before her youngest and only brother. Her parents were cordial enough for the most part but had the sense to seperate when it was clear they weren't getting along, unintentionally leaving Khare by the wayside what with being the middle child of the family.

Fortunately seperation went smoothly for the most part. Her sister was old enough to move out by the time it happened and Khare stayed with her mother for a while, bouncing in-between both homes while her brother stayed with her father. Things were as normal as you could get for a family living in one of the more deprived areas of Britain, living their lives in a rundown seaside town that had seen better days. She got everything she needed, rarely going without but never being as 'special' as her siblings left their mark as it wasn't long before she too moved out to find a place of her own. Despite not being as close with her family as she'd have liked, Khare retained a positive relationship as best she could, especially with her younger brother who'd always been on the small side for his age. She wasn't afraid to get physical with the local yobs if they tried it and did get into a couple of scraps but overall she wasn't much of a troublemaker, just not very academic. She had a goth phase to which she still looks back on with great embarassment.

"I know, I know." Q confirmed softly, tapping his fingers nervously against the counter as he watched Oswald. "Are you still... Angry with me?" He would rather fix this; he had to leave soon and he didn't want to leave with Oswald hating him.

"We could do something else, something normal?" Like Q knew what normal was. "Bowling?"

"Insult my intelligence one more time and you'll get a bullet in you after all." He hisses, deadly serious. He can't believe he risked his life for this man and he's calling him an idiot. "Honestly Ozzie you suck at being appreciative"

But he was right. The plan had several miscalculations that had led them to this outcome. Edward couldn't let Oswald get hurt over his own poor planning. No one should suffer from his own idiocy but himself

"Fuck- that hurts. Is it safe yet?"

Edward shakes his head, refusing to let this be dismissed "You may not have the same knowledge I do, but you are clever, Oswald. I've realized that. If I were to leave you, you'd still manage to do just fine on your own. You'd figure it out because that's what you do."

He taps his thumb against his fingertips. He hates being so... open like this, but he clearly feels it needs to be said. "But you've provided me something I was not even aware I needed. People don't like me, Oswald. I'm well aware of that- hell I think it's funny. But even though I know I've irritated you plenty, even though we've fought, you're still here."

"And I'm telling you this," He breathes, brows knit together "Because I am a naturally distrusting and pessimistic person and I find myself worrying that the only reason you haven't gotten rid of me is because you think you need me to keep you on top. I worry what will happen when you realize you don't. You'll have no reason to put up with the annoyance anymore."

Breathe Edward. Calm down. You're better than this. Don't give them the satisfaction of seeing how they're getting to you

"I'm the sensitive one? Practically every day you're throwing some fit about some-damn-thing!" Okay, so much for calming down. He kicks the computer he'd been working on only moments prior. He's lashing out. "Do you think I'm stupid, Oswald? Careful with your answer because I am very close to breaking this damned machine over your head."

"If you really do think someone else could get the answers for you faster then by all means go for it. But when you come crawling back because obviously I'm the only one who can do this bullshit I'm going to expect an apology and a lot of money."

It was so cute the way Oswald plays brave when he's so clearly terrified. Just like back at Arkham, all the venom and vitriol of a little dog. He can't help the grin pulling at the corners of his lips.

It's only a game to him. It's always a game. People were no better than toys to him.

"it is nonsense, isn't it Ozzie?" He was already told not to use that nickname, but when has Ed ever done what he was told? There's a glimmer in his eye, the smug look he gets when he thinks he's figured something out "Can you believe people are scammed by this crap?"

He shrugs taking the book "I'll read it." He'd only actually asked Oz to read from it as a joke in the first place, figuring they'd get a laugh over the gibberish 'cursed text' within. Now though it's a challenge, pushing Oswald to admit he believed in this garbage
