Number 14

Totally didn’t realize this was an ask game until you messaged me! 

14. It had no eyes. 

A quick little drabble of a monster I thought of. Maybe it’ll be something else later down the road?

It had no eyes. Yet when the head turned around with a snap, something was watching. Long, jagged teeth stuck out of the mouth at strange angles, pieces of meat hanging from the jaws. The slits along the sides of the face flared bright red, the nostrils testing the air for familiar and unfamiliar scents. Turning completely around, the beast skulked towards it’s prey. The long body twisted and uncoiled as the monster dragged itself forward on two, clawed feet. The dark scales flexed and shimmered in the dim light as the creature moved closer. Pausing the monster sniffed the air again. 

A moment of dead silence passed as I waited. If I didn’t move it wouldn’t hear me. Maybe if I stopped breathing it wouldn’t smell me. Wishful thinking as the jaws clamped around my torso.

01: When did you first start writing?Back in high school.  It was terrible.  Still is sometimes, to be honest.

11: What’s your favorite book cover?Hmmm...I really love the simplicity of The Night Circus.  I don’t know.  I struggle to remember book covers sometimes, I usually remembers stories. 

28: Which do you find hardest: the beginning, the middle, or the end?The middle, to be honest.
