The Lemonade Process
People say when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Easier said than done right? I guess you can say that I’m learning how to add just the right amount of sugar to make a good batch. It can be especially difficult to do so when you’ve experienced so much. I’m learning that you can’t view life that way. Your experiences happened for a purpose that is far beyond what you can see at this moment. It teaches you valuable lessons so that you can learn to attack and conquer issues in the future.
It took a lot to fully understand what making lemonade actually meant. I thought maybe it’s not about the sugar at all but about process of it. Just eating a plain lemon will cause you to have an “O God!” face. Comparably, when life hands you a lemon your attitude can change instantly. Actually taking the time to see the problem through and developed to a good thing takes time, just like lemonade.
5 things needed to make lemonade:
Lemons (of course)
Pitcher
Water
Sugar
Mixing spoon
To get a good glass of lemonade depends on how you mix your ingredients. The pitcher symbolizes your life. It holds the good, the bad, and the ugly. Once the lemons are applied, your water is added to help dilute the bad and ugly (sour) part of life. Your water could very well be a higher power, friends & family, hobbies, etc. The water helps to cope with the oh so sour taste. Next, you have to add your sugar. The sugar is the “good” in life. Surrounding yourself with positive things and thoughts and being truly grateful for what you have as opposed to what you don’t have causes you to have a much better perspective on life. Adding just enough sugar will take all of the sour taste away. Lastly, you take your mixing spoon and mix all of those ingredients together to then discover your peace of mind.
Once the mixing is complete you will realize that what started out so sour only took a few minutes out of your day to make it all right because you remained committed to the process. The extremely sour taste is gone and your face is back to being beautiful again.
It took a while, but I now know that no matter how many lemons life gives, it’s always possible to create lemonade. I just have to remain committed to the process. Sometimes the sour taste may be unbearable but the key is remembering that it is only temporary. Leaving a lemon in lemon form will never change the taste. However, using it as an ingredient to make something tastier will definitely make it better. The choice is yours.... Would you rather have lemons? Or lemonade?
