Stop and Start
There is a certain way of movement that is used in paranormal films where the ‘spirit’ kinda stops moving and starts moving again, skipping a bit of space. Like an old VHS tape pausing and playing again. I really like that. I want to try to capture that movement with the furies and the characters they play. It will help add to the ‘otherworldly’ aspect of them. It will also help convey the idea that Mary isn’t really in control of the things going on. I’ll help show the ‘showiness’ of the furies. That they are playing this for Mary, like a movie.
If I'm ever at an audition, and the form says "Will you accept a chorus role?" Is it okay to put no?
Yup! That's why they put that there! But I do think that putting "yes" does indicate that you are more of a team player, but I don't think they'd say, "Man, they're perfect for the lead role, but hm...They said no to the ensemble thing...Nope, not going to cast her."
I had the lead in a play last year and got an extra this year. Some people are treating me really badly and I don't know what to do. I'm feeling really crappy :/ I don't want to stay in but I don't want to let everyone down. Is this snobbish?
Of course it's not snobbish. I definitely understand your disappointment, but unless it's really upsetting you, I would stay in the smaller role for the show. It's a show of good faith, that you're in it for the experience and the group, not just for the leading role. Just try to stay really positive about it, and try not to pay any attention to anybody being rude to you. They'll get bored of being mean and soon leave you alone, I'm sure!
Theatre was wonderful.
We did yoga and threw dowels and did an exercise where we weren't supposed to think so that we could connect to our bodies and do ensemble work.
It was really cool because it helped alleviate that weird disconnect I've had with my body, if only for a half hour or so.
It's effects are starting to wear off, but it was worth it. I feel really tingly right now.
