For gin, what is the best one for a beginner gin drinker to start with do you think?
So my favorite for a classic and smooth drink is The Botanist, which is a Scottish gin. If you have a chance to taste that, it’s always what I recommend because it’s a bit more botanical and a bit less juniper forward than other gins (aka for folks who think gin tastes like licking a christmas tree, this has less of that).
Two others that I recommend for folks new to gin are Bombay Sapphire and Tanqueray. They are both really easy to find (and easy to find in little airplane bottles if you want to try before you buy a full bottle), neither are a big investment, and both make a really great gin & tonic. I’ve never been disappointed by a drink with either of them as the gin.
