Garnet looked up at the stars. It was the first clear night in a long time. The stars always looked so much brighter from the beach. “If you keep bouncing off the walls like that you’re going to burn yourself out.” She warned the green gem beside her. “Relax. Enjoy the evening.”

After standing in silence next to the other gem for a while,    watching as some of the others talked in the distance,    Ruby turned to the peridot, twiddling with their thumbs    together together in an attempt to relieve some stress.    They still weren’t all that used to talking to gems that    weren’t other rubies. It was hard talking to others. They    were all so... different! Heck, even the differences between    themselves and the rest of their squad was confusing and    hard to grasp sometimes!

     Rose paused for a moment, promptly covering her mouth to hide the amused grin that not only seemed to stay in place, but grow at the protest. Threatening to burst forth with an outright laugh. The small gem had simply looked so adorable attempting to reach the stuffed alien that had somehow landed on up high stack of boxes.      “Okay, Okay. You’re right. But you know, if you need a hand you can just ask.”      Her tone remained soft, though the hint of amusement still lingered as Rose reached up onto the pile of cardboard and gently scooped the item into her arms. Leaning down and handing it to Peridot.
