DID HIS SUICIDE IN APRIL 1991 SURPRISE YOU?
"Yes and no. (silence)
I still talked to him, but he became more and more strange since he moved to Oslo. The guys from Mayhem asked him to move, but he almost ended up on the street: he didn’t even have money to buy food! He believed that there were ghosts in the woods near the house and of course he loved it (chuckle)! His suicide shocked me. I was angry at Euronymous for using his death to fuel the myth surrounding Mayhem."
A LOT OF BLACK METAL BANDS THEN STARTED TO PICK ON DEATH METAL BANDS LIKE ENTOMBED SAYING IT'S "LIFE METAL".
"A lot of talk about nothing. I think that Entombed's existence for such a long time is the best answer to these remarks. Mayhem's bassist Necrobutcher once asked me to come on stage with them and play one of the Morbid songs in memory of Per when they were celebrating the band's 20th anniversary. I refused because I'm not stupid. If our singer hadn't joined Mayhem and killed himself, no one would have heard of Morbid now." - Uffe Cederlund, Hard'n'heavy #112, 2005. 🦇
